I see that Carl hated to have his hair pulled.  Odd.  Most people just love it when it happens to them.

Ya when I read that Brian 'hated' to miss shows...I thought...this is bogus.

While touring might not be Brian's favorite thing, I've seen him have onstage "moments" when something or someone catches his eye or he notices that someone actually "knows the words" to his work, and Brian looks quite pleased onstage, smiling broadly, or giving one of his "OK" signs, and seemingly very happy to savor that moment.

And, he is on the cusp of being a "Cancer" and they often tend to like to be home-bodies.

Schlepping around isn't for everyone.   Wink

I also think that it would have sth. to do with the options. Only 2, & extreme at that - "love" & "hate". Nothing in-between. But yes, I agree with filledeplage, Brian loved the audience' reaction. They all answered their questions manually.

I HATE girls who adopt a facade or pretend to be “cool” because it’s the thing to do.

they should have done this every 10 years... imagine the responses

1975
Brian: I hate showers.
I still hate surfin music.
I love my sister-in-law.

1985
Brian: I hate jogging. I mean I love jogging.
I hate my doctor. I mean I love him.
I hate interviews. I mean I love them.

1995
Mike: I love cutlery.
I love NASCAR and Nashville as themes for albums.
I hate making albums with the other Beach Boys.

2005
Brian: I love my Grammy.
Mike: I love my Johnny.

2015...?

"I HATE so-called “surfin’ music.” It’s a name that people slap on any sound from California. Our music is rightfully “the Beach Boy sound”—if one has to label it."

I like that quote. This is right around the same time The Sunrays released "I Live For The Sun".

Brian's wording leaves me wondering whether he means the music itself, the name "surfin' music", just being labelled as "surfin' music", or both.
