Don't hold your breath yet. Unfortunately there's no live footage. But is that Dennis carrying the hi-hat? I love footage from that era. Is there more of this kind of film, like the "Ida Blackburn-footage" (see below)? I'm not talking about TV footage or the Lost Concert etc. of course.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

That's probably Ron Swallow carrying the drums, although hard to tell, it could be Dennis.

Pretty sure you're right that it's Ron, Jon, not Dennis.

Gotta' love those girls in the striped tee shirts!  I had more than one of those back then, too.

I wish more stuff like this (preferably with more footage of the band itself) would surface. It's a bummer that there's hours and hours of random newsreel footage of every Beatles burp while they were on tour, but so little in the way of Beach Boys footage. I get why that is, but it's still a bummer.

That footage looks so much like the newsreel footage of the first two Beatles tours in North America, hitting the arenas and whatnot.

That looks like a home movie, not a newsreel. The camera work is too shaky, the film stock looks cheaper than a news camera would have. And if that person had a normal "reel" of film in the ol' camera that day, it looks like he spent all of it on crowd shots and ran out of film for the actual Beach Boys in action! I thought there would be more frames of the actual band in that.

Still very cool, I love old home movies.

Dennis made me laugh. Hitting on the reporter lady during the interview. Though, I suppose I would be disappointed had he not hit on her. That boy sure had charisma now, didn't he? Smiley I wonder why the concert section had no sound, but was there for the interview portion?

What's fascinating is that Oklahoma interview survives but so much else has vanished. Based on newspaper articles I've read it is clear that tv reporters frequently showed up to interview the bbs in the 60s for local news shows. But 95 % of the footage was erased after it aired. Sad

The Beach Boys were the biggest american band at that time so it is logical that TV stations came up. But as you said, the sad thing is that we really don't have much of that stuff. For an act that big I wonder why there's even not more tv appearances.
