Hi freaks!

I just wanted to know if anybody had an idea where to find the very first snipped of CWTL that you can hear on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmQrKTh3wo0. I'm pretty sure this is one of the only takes of this song not officially released, but I'd be glad to be proved wrong. Does anybody know where I can find it (exept on UM vol 19) in good quality? This is definitely one of my favorite pieces of music.

Thanks very much

I can't listen to it on mobile but are you referring to the snippet that was released on Made in California under the name "I Believe in Miracles?"

No that's not the one I'm talking about though it's surely also one of my favorites.

Wow.  Doesn't sound like Brian on falsetto there.

That snippet at the beginning is not released. The version you just listened to is from Odeon's Smile bootleg which is of course not official.

That instrument in the left channel sounds like a Mellotron/Chamberlin preset, which could date this section to the post-Friends/pre-20/20 sessions for the song.

That bit has been "out there" for a while now. Check your old Smile bootlegs ca. 2000; you will likely find it.

Sounds cassette tape sourced, for whatever that's worth.  Smokin

It's been around for sure! I remember discussing what would be a cool EP-length compilation of the songs Brian was working on in the latter half of 1967, in the Wild Honey period but not necessarily for Wild Honey originally: Can't Wait Too Long, Cool Cool Water, Time To Get Alone, Darlin, probably one or two others.

Then add to it the most recent discovery of Brian performing Surf's Up solo on the piano from this same era...quite a collection of recordings, right there.

This is really cool. I've never heard this! The more groovin' sections would've fit fantastically well on Wild Honey w/ the half-time stuff more in the middle.
Makes me appreciate this tune a lot more!

Are you sure? Because the quality on the copy I found is leagues away from the quality in the video. I've never heard the segment before but now it's become one of my favorites ever.

I agree. It's either that or the vocals are slowed down. I also had the theory that maybe the vox were recorded during the LA Light Album sessions, since they apparently were planning on doing some work on it then. But I think it was proven to be impossible.

Yeah!  Brian Solo always sounds good, right?
