You would like to think that the band or Capitol would realize that even non diehard fans can't digest another greatest hits CD.  They should be lining up vault / archival discs for release from now until 2050.

How many people will buy another greatest hits CD when they have 10(+/-) of them?  Even the casual fan won't buy one again.  One could argue that they would have better sales with a rarities / deluxe release.

Blame the bean counters in the Tower. It's ironic that the company are now far more attuned to such archive releases.
Are they solely to blame - I thought the band had been equally reluctant to bare some of what they considered sub-par (eg, Soulful Old Man Shunsine)

In the specific instance of "SOMS", Carl blocked it. That it was released in the year of his passing is surely significant.

It's interesting to "hear" what the band may consider sub par.  I always thought Carl sounded great on SOMS.

Easily one of the best "unreleased" tracks to emerge in recent (is it still recent?) years.

Because of his mispronunciation of "sunshine?'
