I just stumbled across this 80's Jan & Dean tune on You Tube. It's an affecting ballad, produced and sung by Jan with apparently minimal input from Dean and backing vocals that recall Bruce Johnston. It was included on a cassette only album called Port to Paradise. Frankly superior to much of The Beach Boys' 80's efforts, this pretty song should have been a comeback hit for Jan & Dean!

BTW- What did these guys do to piss off Jann Wenner??

I like it but I don't think it's that good. Jan's "How how I love her" is a classic though imo.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Ocean Park Angel may not be great but I was impressed Jan & Dean made a decent sounding record in 1982. Had a flash of the pair lip synching the tune on SOLID GOLD in their beach shirts. Far worse tunes have taken a spin in the Top 40. I tell you it would have been totally rad!
