Definitely an interesting find.  What I find odd is that since this came before "Surfer Moon," ...

Um... given that it's patently the BB track they're singing over, I don't see how this can be.

I was basing that on grillo's comment: "On the sessions for the BB version you can hear Murry reminding Brian that it's now 'Surfer moon', rather than summer, so this must be the original."  It's definitely the same track, you're absolutely correct.

No matter which came first, my point was that the song sounds terrible in that key with a female lead, and I'm not sure why Brian didn't realize that.

More than that, the girl can barely hold a note - towards the end, she's really bad.

Very true, she's pretty awful.

Did somebody send Lee an Mp3 of Summer Moon yet?

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

It's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas, listening to the sounds.....
One of my dearest palsy/walsies hooked me up with, OH! I can't talk about this....

On a song such as The Surfer/Summer Moon, Brian gets the sole writing credit? There's some nice rhymes and such in here, so what did he need Mike or Gary or any of the other lyrics guys for?  He wrote them all himself and it was just fine.

This may be the most sexist comment I ever post, but I'd just like to state she couldn't sing for toffee but she sure did look hot.

For foder's sake: you spend so much time in front of your computer, do it yourself.  I've given you a link to download software that will enable you to do this in no time at all, again and again in the future. Don't be so ungrateful.

Definitely "Kocher."  The spelling "Korcher" was a misprint in Capitol's THE BIG BEAT 1963 credits, and unfortunately has been picked up by various press sources and propagated.
