This was taken on the same day as one of the first shows outside California that the band played.

Well as I related in the book the bbs actually played some of the same venues as holly played on that tour. Dave marks told me that when they played the famous surf ballroom in Iowa where buddy played his last show that they were all aware of the significance. Funny though it was only four years since buddy's death

Four years removed - That's the kind of thing you don't think about until you read it, and then the significance of it hits you between the eyes. I'm sure Buddy would be proud to hear the results of all the kids he helped inspire to write and play music that is timeless.

The photos of that AZ gig look as meat-and-potatoes as a venue could be at that time. No frills, just music.  Smiley

Was Dennis on stage with a cig there? Don't think Murry would have allowed that. Or was Dave's Dad their touring manager then?

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Love the pictures! I agree that 1963 still looked like the 1950s. Dennis with his cig...what a rebel  Smokin
