It has recently come to my attention that there is an amateur film of The Beach Boys at Jack Murphy Stadium from 1983 that is "available". Does anybody know anything about it? I've been told that it was filmed from the audience, and it's only the first couple of songs. Has anybody seen it? Is it worth checking out?

OK, mea culpa - it's Seattle, but only two weeks later.

I think the show you're referring to is from a different show in Seattle.

Indeed - my complete bad... but same tour, same setlist, all the band present. In mitigation, these stadia all look the same to me.  Cheesy

I think I may have seen some footage from Jack Murphy Stadium. I have a news report about the 1993 box set, and there are a few short glimpses of a 1983 concert. One shot shows Brian singing Sloop John B., with a woman sitting beside him at the piano bench. The other quick shot shows a bare chested and bearded Dennis in a red convertible. Would you happen to know if that was indeed from Jack Murphy Stadium?

My take on Andrew is that, like most of us, he's not infallible, but--unlike most of us--he's totally credible and wonderfully incredible at the same time...  Smokin

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Thanks for that.  Smiley Any idea who the woman is sitting beside Brian, or why she's there?

From what I can remember, they came every year from 81-90,  then again in 1994 (my first show) then never came back again. I became a serious fan in late 91, early 92. I still regret getting the cheap seats. I was fresh out of high school, and I was bummed that I had to watch the backs of their heads through binoculars.

I'm guessing that if Dennis had a beard the footage was most likely from the first Padres - Beach Boys post game show in May 1982, rather than May '83.

This was the first of a long run of yearly Padres - Beach Boys post game concerts at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium (now known as Qualcomm Stadium, home of the Chargers, with the Padres having moved to PetCo Park).  I was seated on the field level, third base side, and the stage was in center field.  Just prior to the beginning of the concert I was surprised to see Dennis, with a young woman at his side, heading away from the stage and toward the entrance to the locker room area (and probably the dressing rooms the BBs used) beneath us.  He appeared to be inebriated, with silly grin on his face.  The concert began without him, and was well underway when he finally appeared at the drum kit.

Hard to believe, but tickets for the sold out game, including the after game concert, ranged from $3 to $6.50, which, adjusted for inflation, is still only $7.25 to $15.70.

Has anybody seen this footage? I was told that it's only the first few songs, with more shots of the audience than the actual concert. Still, any footage of the band is interesting, at least in my opinion.
