I found this curios item on e-bay, and I was just wondering if it's real or not. It's signed to Carl Wilson, with the date "1967" written on it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/If-You-Knew-by-Stephen-John-Kalinich-SIGNED-TO-CARL-WILSON-OF-THE-BEACH-BOYS-/281160342362?pt=Antiquarian_Collectible&hash=item4176765b5a

Well, the book and handwriting are defintely real as I have the same book signed to myself from Steve.
I'll have to check the date but he was the guest at one of the meals held by some people on the Bloo and read from the book plus did a small Q&A

I have my doubts, simply because the 1967 message looks like it was written on the same day as signature and 1997 date, and with the same pen.  Grin

I could be wrong but I think he was referring to the fact that Carl produced his first record - "Leaves of Grass" - in 1967.

Should the bidding on the Carl Wilson-owned copy of SJK's book prove to be on the over-pricey side, an alternative is available above, for $15.75.  Vagabond Books, a Los Angeles dealer specializing in noir/pulp-associated titles, is selling the copy of If You Knew that was owned by famed writer-director Samuel Fuller.  Sam Fuller was about as different from Kalinich in his artistic approach as could be imagined, but the one thing they have in common is a deep consciousness of American history and American life, so this would be a pretty good volume to have.

You're right. I misread it. That's what happens when you post something without really thinking about it first.  Grin

I just asked Stevie. He says it's legit:

"Yes where did you get this? It is real. I gave it to Carl who would sell it? There are a few Hard Backs somewhere too. For charities people have paid thousands and when Brian signs even more. However we do not get a penny or usually i give to charity but one day i might do a limited edition signed but i would feel guilty charging this much. love, stevie"
