Ian and I (he supplies the info, I put it up and once in a blue moon correct or add) are pretty much done with adding the shows post-2000 in the same format as the rest of the section. Just double checking now, so it hopefully will go live before the end of the month. As ever, additions, corrections, plaudits and checks for substantial sums are not merely welcomed but encouraged.

Oh, and next time I have a bright idea like that, someone talk me out of it please.  Old Man

You mean ideas like counting the number of shows performed by every individual member of the band? Looking forward to that!   Grin

Individual member totals 1961-1998 (shows billed as Beach Boys only - no solo, no California/Endless Summer Beach Band or the like). The accuracy is probably about +/-2:

Brian    -   901 (1961- April 1965, July 1976-September 1996)
Carl      - 3583 (to August 1997)
Dennis - 1963 (to September 1983)
Mike     - 3645
Alan     - 3456 (to May 1998)
David  -    271 (March 1962-October 1963, September 1997-1998)
Glen   -       28 (December 1964-April 1965)
Bruce   - 2745 (April 1965-April 1972, September 1978-1998)
Blondie  - 184 (April 1972-December 1973)
Ricky      - 259 (April 1972-summer 1974)

Very illuminating. Thought Glen would have played many more. And look how many more Ricky played than Blondie.

Revised figures 1961-1998 including solo shows (note, solo shows date only from 1975 and don't include David's gigs with The Moon et al)

Brian - 947 (909 BB/38 solo)
Carl - 3643 (3577/66)
Dennis - 1963 (1963/-)
Mike - 3703 (3639/64)
Alan - 3451 (3448/3)
David - 298 (271/27)
Glen - 29 (28/1)
Bruce - 2752 (2745/7)
Ricky - 259 (259/-)
Blondie - 184 (184/-)

After 1998, it gets a bit messier.  Cheesy

Fantastic list. Fore pure accuracy's sake you might want to put an asterisk next to David, Glen and Blondie's totals as they all have played many more than the zero solo shows they are credited for.

One teeny item I can add, which may already have been corrected for the new database, I noticed on this page:  http://www.esquarterly.com/bellagio/britour.html, it lists a Brian gig from 9/19/2000 in Saratoga that never took place. Two shows were originally scheduled, one for 9/19 at the Villa Montalvo Garden Theatre in Saratoga, CA, and one for 9/20 at The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA (the page seems to invert the two scheduled venues). The 9/19 show was canceled well before the show took place (I think tickets had been sold). The 9/20/2000 show was at The Mountain Winery, and went on as scheduled. I believe both shows were scheduled as non-orchestra shows.

Nice work - now on to Stage 2, how many shows have all the Beach Boys sidemen played ?  Grin

Kowalski and Carter would probably top the list , but how many shows have Figueroa, Bardowell, Foskett, Munoz, Altbach, Totten, Kirsch, Bonhomme, Cowsill, Meros, Baker, etc. played ?

Indeed... just throwing this out there to garner exactly that kind of feedback. Think I need to limit it to the core members, less David. I feel a convoluted footnote coming on...

Actually, I'm partway there already: I've got a rough database of sidemen by year, not by show, 1967-date. I think to do it by show with any claim to accuracy would be more than somewhat misleading.

I think the one that stood out for me is that Dennis has been dead for almost 30 years and he's still nearly 500 shows ahead of Brian.

Well, Denny's attendance 1961-1979 was pretty solid. Thereafter... not as much.

A question for the experts... I don't see any information for sessions (early 1998?) for the song Acapulco Girls, with Sol De Mexico.  For that matter, I don't hear any actual Beach Boys on the recording, despite the credit.  I do hear Adrian Baker and Paul Fauerso, though supposedly Bruce and David Marks are on it.  Is there any information on this session?  It was actually a hit, I believe.

Also... supposedly, Mike, Bruce, David and Glen Campbell recorded a new 'Beach Boys" version of Jimmy Buffet's Coconut Telegraph the same year.  Was there any truth to that one?

What Mike Love "solo" performances are you including?  He never did any "Mike Love" shows, did He?  Are you including all the Celebration and Endless Summer Band gigs as solo?

Very fair question, and it's a bit of a Queen of Hearts moment. In this respect, "solo" means "non-Beach Boys". Carl and Brian have, of course, done solo shows, but in the case of the others, that means for Mike I'm counting Waves, Celebration, Mike & Dean, Endless Summer Beach Band, California Beach Band and... er... one other I forget. Alan includes the many variations of the Family & Friends concept and his appearances with the Suirf City All Stars. Like I said, expect a convoluted footnote.  Grin

Mike did at least one solo show under his own name. It was at Lake Lanier Islands resort, near Buford, GA, in 1981. Jeff Foskett and Randell Kirsch were in the supporting band.

How many shows total, group and solo?

And do these totals include private gigs?

I think that's on the timeline, ( in green lettering, just as the 2nd half 1981 Mike shows are marked) :
