Well, Denny's attendance 1961-1979 was pretty solid. Thereafter... not as much.

Definitely not as much after 1983.

What about Stamos?
All kidding aside, thanks for posting these numbers. I often wondered how many shows each of them (and collectively) they have done.

Again, my bad - those were seven shows with the California Beach Band. I need to phrase that much better.

Well, gee, thanks, but it's just basic number crunching: without Ian's data, I couldn't do it.

BTW, I'm going back through the gigs doing a complete recount as I've noticed that some of my spreadsheets are obviously wrong - Ian's been feeding me updates that I've not included on those sheets despite revising the actual web page, so the basic totals will vary slightly from those previously stated, once I'm done. Right now, with about a decade and a half still to recount, the total of BB shows 1961-2013 stands at 5393 and not 5342, as I thought yesterday.

Good thing I like doing this, huh ?  Cheesy

Didn't Dennis open a few BB's shows with a short POB set? Do those count as "solo" performances?

OK, revised figures after a complete recount, and apologies for posting inaccurate data in the first place.

Total shows performed as The Beach Boys 1961-2013 - 5,510*

Individual members:

Brian - 984
Carl - 3,574
Dennis - 2,045
Mike - 5,488
Alan - 3,677
David - 468
Glen - 28
Bruce - 4,488
Ricky - 264
Blondie - 193

* - this is a minimum figure: there are still shows from the early 60s (notably 1962) that are certainly missing, and while this total includes a goodly number of corporate/private shows, it doesn't cover all of them. A semi-informed guess would be that the band have performed somewhere between 5,750 and 6,000 shows billed as The Beach Boys.

Andrew, this is simply fabulous work. Thanks so very, very much....

...Now for my insane request:

Can you break all that data down into year-by-year chunks?

(And not use those chunks to beat me about the head and shoulders for asking you to do it???)  Smokin

Already is, at least on the spreadsheets - total gigs, USA, Canada/Mexico, rest of the world (total and by country). Actually, most of it's month-by-month.  Grin

An audio recording of the Mile High Stadium show in Denver exists and Mike's voice doesn't sound like him on the songs he's supposed to sing. If he was at the show, maybe he had come down with a strep throat or something and his voice was a bit altered.
Actually, I'm not very sure if he was there or not. Any thoughts?

Maybe he was missing. However, at a fairly recent show, a sore-throated Mike lip-synched and mimed to (I think) Chris Farmer's lead vocals.

I did a quick google search to see if the BBs have broken some kind of record of most gigs played under a band name? I wasn't sure from the results, but possibly do they hold the record? The Lovester himself probably holds some kind of record too, or close to it.

How many shows in 1983..? Between Santa Barbara to San Diego they played 12-15 shows that year just in that neighbor hood.. Saturated the market because of James Watt.. Never saw that happen again before or since.. Also if you  know  the BB history you can tell why some years have low concert totals..
