Brian Wilson's Bellagio Road "Neighbor" in the 70's...

Just saw this collectible pop up on another site...note the street address...I wonder if they ever crossed paths in the 70's?

Definitely! For a time, Papa John had his recording studio hidden in his house, and that's the answer to the question what ever happened to the original studio equipment Brian and Chuck were using at Western in the mid 60's. When they renovated Western and updated, Papa John bought a bunch of that gear and installed it in Bel Air. Hal Blaine told a story about the police coming to the place while he was there recording with John because of noise, and everyone having to hide the fact they were recording because apparently that area was zoned so you couldn't operate a studio in a house.

If I'm not mistaken, I think that's also where McCartney and Brian met and jammed with the Phillips family in April '67.

That's what never made sense to me, because Brian of course had an even more professional studio there around the same time. Odd.

It's just neat to wonder how if ever Brian, John Phillips, Hitchcock, and everyone else we know who lived on that block may have interacted during normal neighborhood life. You're out for a walk one morning and see Hitchcock walking a poodle or something...

Now, walking over to chat with Lauren Bacall at 10430 ( 282 feet away on the street), THAT I could see... 

Phillips house was only .7 miles away at 783 Bel Air Rd ( north on Copa De Oro Rd to Bel Air Rd)
 but I don't see anyone walking there either...

No he didn't - the home 'studio' in April 1967 (if there was one -  the first documented session was 6/11/67) would have been a very improvised set-up.

Hitchcock also had a residence in Scotts Valley just north of Surf City Santa Cruz.

Nope. You forgot what you saw, evidently. 
John and Michelle had early in 1967 purchased an English Tudor style house at 783 Bel Air road formerly owned by actress/singer Jeanette MacDonald and her husband Gene Raymond.  That's where they put the studio. 
The house at 414 St. Pierre( the Nicolosi Estate), originally built for Johnny Weissmuller ( Tarzan) was  lived in by John with Genevieve Waite.

Of course for the Smiley Smile sessions and throughout '67 it was an ad hoc setup, it was Friends in '68 that marked the more permanent studio setup. The thing with Blaine's story is that he doesn't date it. He implied Phillips was having full-on sessions at Chez Phillips in the late 60's, where just like Brian's studio they would have outside session players coming up to the house to record, and record more than informal jams and hangouts. But Hal never says the dates involved.

I'm assuming John's studio was operating through the late 60's, which is where the parallel to Brian's came in. Yet Hal says there were zoning laws against having a home studio in general in that neighborhood (which I'm assuming was also Brian's neighborhood subject to the same codes) which led to the hiding of musicians and whatnot at Phillips' place.

It just leaves a gap of both a date and exactly what the zoning or codes were that Hal described which forced them to hide when the police came to check on both excessive noise and extra cars parked around the area. Odd.

I did MY homework. The whole point was where the studio was located and you royally screwed that one!  I can see why you wanted to change the subject alot.

By the way, did I tell you that Sonny & Cher lived at 364 St Cloud Rd. in Bel Air, which, according to the map provided by Bgas, was a hop, skip, and a jump from Brian's and Marilyn's house on Bellagio. In fact, I saw framed macrome stitching artwork done by Cher hanging on the wall behind the piano in Brian's house. It said, "Stay Cool, Bri - Cher".

You couldn't, without getting a suit for false advertising slapped on you: the house that Brian lived in 1967-79 no longer exists. Saw a photo of the 10452 lot a few years back and it was basically a building site. I think there's more remaining of the original structure of the house he was born in.

Actually - and I only discovered this a short while ago - 10452 was a house Burroughs had built for his wife (or ex-wife, forget which): he never lived there himself.
