I'm sure I read somewhere a few years back that Brian and his band once sprang "Shut Down, Part 2" on an unsuspecting and delighted audience. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Looking for information about the tribute concert this came from, I noticed The Wondermints among the list of performers (http://variety.com/1994/legit/reviews/tribute-to-brian-wilson-1200439383/). Might that have been the time Brian was introduced to them? (Peter Ames Carlin says it happened in '95 (p294).)

The Brianista Prayer

Oh Brian
Thou Art In Hawthorne,
Harmonied Be Thy name
Your Kingdom Come,
Your Steak Well Done,
On Stage As It Is In Studio,
Give Us This Day, Our Shortenin' Bread
And Forgive Us Our Bootlegs,
As We Also Have Forgiven Our Wife And Managers,
And Lead Us Not Into Kokomo,
But Deliver Us From Mike Love.
Amen.  ---hypehat

Great Perfromance...... LOL LOL LOL

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

The December 1994 edition of ESQ includes rave reviews of the event by Lee Dempsey and Bill Holdship. Hopefully more footage will surface.

Wow, isn't it amazing! Whenever I see Brian smiling & joking, it cheers me up everytime. Absolutely liked this cute performance, SD2 was fantastic as a guest introduction number. Thank you, Mr. flake paint! It's always a treat to go on this board & find sth. never-seen before. And thanks to john k for the topic.

Does the review include a list of more songs performed by Brian? ( or was this it)

This is from the online article previously found by john k:

http://variety.com/1994/legit/reviews/tribute-to-brian-wilson-1200439383/

"Accompanied by two string players, a saxophonist, a percussionist, guitars and drums, Willson (sic) and the band performed strong versions of “409,”"God Only Knows,”"Do it Again” and “California Girls.”"
