I hope Beck's set is no longer than 30 minutes. I'll enjoy seeing him play, but I'm not there to see him.
I'm guessing they'll each do an hour, then have half an hour together. It's only fair...Jeff Beck has his fans, and it's a Co-Headlining tour.
If the times on BW.com are indeed accurate, the entire show lasts two hours - 8-10pm.
Perhaps a show split into three sections...45 mins each? Brian, Jeff, Together?...No real intermission maybe?
And folk here wonder why I sometimes get a little irate. My post was #20.
TWO POSTS EARLIER
, Lost Art repeated from an article that Jeff, then Brian would each play a set of hits before some of Brian's more eclectic stuff is played, then Jeff opens the second half (intermission implied) with some of his (presumably similarly eclectic) solo stuff before all combine "to perform some of their favorite songs from their youth, as well as (for the first time ever) some classic Yardbirds material". Patently you didn't read this, otherwise you wouldn't have asked the question you did. It very badly presented but there have to be at least four sets crammed into about 100 minutes (allowing for a 20 minute intermission).
And breathe...
Moral of this tale - read the preceding posts.
Thanks, didn't ask for that...the article is very vague and it has been described differently before. I've never heard of a co-headlining tour, that uses their own bands, AND plays FIVE sets in only TWO hours.
Moral of THIS tale- I think that article is a load of sh*t.

AGD is suggesting that there will be five sets based on the article. One Brian, One Jeff, One Brian, One Jeff, Together.

Not what I take away from the description at all. I definitely see more than three, but it may depend on what source you're using.
>>Wilson and Beck will be joined by Wilson’s Beach Boys bandmates Al Jardine and David Marks throughout the tour. The musicians will open each show by performing a string of hits with their respective bands. The show will then focus on eclectic selections from Wilson’s more than five decade career before Beck opens the second half of the concert by playing music from his solo career with a four-piece rhythm section. All four artists will then team up for the finale, when they will perform some of their favorite songs from their youth, as well as (for the first time ever) some classic Yardbirds material.<<
This description allows what I see as 5 sets. ( Presuming hits sets by Brian then Jeff or Jeff/Brian. Then Brian's set. Intermission then Jeff, and finally everyone Of course to me the way it lays out are sets by Al and David, but that doesn't really make any sense at all....
Still, none of this precludes actually reading all the posts instead of just some of them.

OK, assuming for the sake of argument that David and Alan have their own sets, and with no disrespect to either... anyone care to name me some/any of their "string of hits" ? The article is very badly written (thought - is it translated from another language ?) but the use of such words as "respective", "hits" and "eclectic" and "second half" strongly infers at least four and possibly five sets, which I grant makes little if any sense. But my original point is valid - read the recent posts.

I am mostly intrigued at Brian and Jeff's collaborative efforts - playing together - and what that set list will be.
AND
Brian's new album
...not waiting on a Amazon UK shipment for that, no sir.

I'm getting a little worried about it being out prior to the tour. It kicks off in less than a month, and according to facebook, Brian isn't even done the album yet.

I hope for the sake of fans attending the show that Brian's album doesn't get released prior to or during the tour. Does anyone really want to hear new music when he's not going to be playing a full set due to Jeff Beck having his own set, particularly with Al and Dave along? People want to hear the classics. If Brian had a concert all to himself, it might be fine to hear five or six new songs. Even if they're terrific songs (which I'm skeptical, maybe they'll be good, but not amazing), you want to hear the Beach Boys' classics if his set is going to be less than an hour.

Gee, if I was going( I'm not, they're not coming anywhere near here) I'd be more happy if they'd drop all the classic BBs hits and do new songs and less performed obscurities.

They don't need to play all the hits. Well, I guess they need to play the obvious ones like Good Vibrations; Wouldn't It Be Nice; God Only Knows; Surfin' USA; I Get Around; Sloop John B; Fun, Fun, Fun; Don't Worry Baby; and California Girls. But if they decided to play something new in favor of something like Little Deuce Coupe, I don't think I would care, in fact, I would welcome that.

Ignore it. I feel you, though, it doesn't make much sense. They did it last year, which was a headscratcher as they would have sold many more cd's. I think it was about mid-tour when TWGMTR was available to buy. I remember the first time I saw C50 it was still a couple weeks away from being released, the second time (a month later) it was out and people were lining up at the merch stand.

I guess I'm not that big of a solo Brian Wilson fan. I really don't care that much for his newer solo material vs. his older, BB-era material. Yeah, I wouldn't need to hear "Little Deuce Coupe," but I'd much rather hear a Beach Boys era obscurity than any new songs. Or something off his very first solo album, which is my fave of all his solo works and the only one I consistently enjoy.
n any case, I suspect most of the audience would prefer non-new material, too, because he's not going to get too many hardcores when playing to an audience that includes Jeff Beck-only fans.

The tour kicked off April 24th...That's Why God Made The Radio (The single) was released May 1st?...then the album June 5th. If I remember correctly, Isn't it Time debuted at Santa Barbara Bowl May 30th (I think)...and Summer's Gone in the UK in September. So it would seem (in relation to THIS tour) that release dates were somewhat irrelevant. They sold out of albums before intermission at Merriweather on June 15th...that was the first show since it had hit #3 and Mike did not let the crowd forget it!

But my original point is valid - read the recent posts.
More details from that Jeff Beck blog that is mentioned in another thread:
"Fans can expect a unique experience when they witness these two legends
taking the stage together. Brian Wilson, Jeff Beck, Al Jardine and
David Marks will open the show together with both of their respective
bands performing a string of hits. From "Little Deuce Coupe" to
"Custom Machine," the show will then focus on eclectic selections from
Wilsons’ vast repertoire, covering fifty-years of classics along with
music from his rich solo catalogue. Beck will open the second half of
the show backed by a four-piece rhythm section to perform selections
from his solo career. He'll be joined by Wilson, Jardine and Marks
who'll add their distinctive harmonies to some Beck’s classics. All
four will once again join together on stage for a massive finale that
will bring together both bands again to run through their favorite
songs from their youth and for the first time ever, some classic
Yardbirds material."
So two sets. The shows open with both bands playing a string of hits together (that's a lot of people on stage). Then Brian does some of his more eclectic stuff. Jeff Beck opens the second half with his four piece rhythm section, joined by Brian, Al, and David on vocals. Then the big finale with both bands again playing together.
Jeff Beck's band will be Lizzie Ball on violin, Rhonda Smith on bass, Nicolas Meier on guitar, and Jonathon Joseph on drums.
Lizzie Ball has been asked by Brian's band to contribute some backup vocals on several of his songs.
I'm really excited to see this show, and unless more dates are added, it'll be the last show of the tour.

Did Brian flat out say that? I don't think it has been officially said either way. But generally, you put your album out first, then tour to promote it.
Seems to me the album will probably come out next year to coincide with Brian's autobiography and the "Love & Mercy" film release.

Nah. Album out in October or November. There will be a separate soundtrack for the film project. Probably with a new track as Oscar bait.

You would think Capitol records would require the release of the new BW cd to coincide with the tour.

You would think Capitol records would require the release of the new BW cd to coincide with the tour.
They would absolutely sell more cd's if the album coincides with the tour. If they're still recording stuff, I doubt it would be ready in time, but I'm not sure what the business sense of waiting to release it. They'd at least sell a couple thousand just at the merch tables, right?
