Believe it or not, I have an even wider uncropped version of that same photo! I got it enlarged to 8x10, framed two copies, and hung one on my wall while giving one away to my musical and recording partner-in-crime.  It's inspirational to be working on music and see Brian producing like that.

I think Mojo owns or has the rights to that photo somehow, the print I have isn't as crisp quality-wise but is slightly wider.

I live this special, I wish it would get some sort of remastering and DVD release but I don't know if there's a market for such a thing.  Leonard Bernstein was a cool guy.

Now I'm confused, because the photo I'm seeing using that link is of Brian in Columbia (I think) during a "That's Not Me" session.

It's definitely on Getty, I got another print of it from a Mojo Feb. 2002 Brian Wilson issue, so I guess they just buy the license to use that shot.

Yes, those are some lovely photos.  CBS had such a luxurious control room.  Those patch-bays are magnificent.  Presumably these were taken on the same day as the set of photos from on the floor at CBS where Al and Dennis get the mic cables all tangled around them or whatever.  Such nice, warm color on these photos.  Still waiting for that elusive shot of the studio floor from a Beach Boys Pet Sounds instrumental tracking session though.

And you can easily see how much more involved the console is than Western 3's or Gold Star's, to accommodate having the 8-track set up presumably, but they may very well have had more options in general because of a big record label budget?  I dunno.

Can someone explain the layout of this desk to me? Didn't know a mid-60's desk could be so busy.
