Question about Heroes and Villains Single

The way "gee" and the various heroes vocal variations were recorded and compiled on tape indicates the order of the sections - as Alan and mark presented it on TSS as Heroes Part 2.  Trying to shoehorn this sequence into the cantina version by dropping sections just doesn't work - ir doesn't sound like a single or a successor to Good Vibrations.  This, plus the other well known clues like a tape box marked "side two" and Chuck's and the Vosse Posse's remembrances of a two sided single and Brian's comment about having finished mixing the single in February but not knowing what he wanted to put on the flip side indicates that cantina was side one and he was working on the flip side immediately after - the gee/vocal sections, plus instrumental Bicycle Rider piano theme, instrumental BR chorus, and intro to Part 2 - which as pointed out above only works musically as intro to side 2.

But as so frequently happened during Smile Brian didn't like how side 2/Part 2 was coming out and was getting frustrated.  Is that why intro was recorded, to replace "Gee?" Or come before it? But then at the end of February Brian starts getting REALLY weird, rerecording the verse music and rerecording the fade, failing to improve on either.  I think after failing to complete part 2 he was now losing faith in Part 1 and rethinking it.  Possibly intro On March 1 was now an intro to Part 2 of the A side as part of this rethink, rather than side 2?  But after recording inferior versions of the fade and the verses, Brian decides Heroes is not happening as the single and turns to Vegetables as an alternative.
