From Brian's website (http://www.brianwilson.com/news/):

Following the announcement that Jeff Beck is guesting on his upcoming Capitol Records studio album, Brian Wilson co-founder of the Beach Boys has announced that the guitar icon will be joining him at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, October 20th. Brian’s former band mates Al Jardine & David Marks fresh off last years successful Beach Boys’s 50th Anniversary tour will join Wilson and Beck for an evening of historical collaboration.

“Jeff is one of the most amazing guitarists I’ve ever worked with and his vibe is inspiring, in fact I think we should do an album together!” says Wilson.  “I feel like this is a cool continuation of what we did last year with the exciting addition of Jeff Beck. We’ve got some new tunes we want to try out on a live crowd as well as doing some great music from our catalogues.”

Wilson, Jardine and Marks will be diving into the Beach Boys rich catalogue and Beck will join them on some of his favorite Beach Boys songs as well as performing a jewel from Brian’s upcoming album. Beck will also be performing a set of is own classics with his stellar band.

This is getting more interesting!  Maybe we'll see an October release coinciding with this concert.

Now this really is interesting.  If I lived anywhere but the entire other side of the continent, I think I'd make every effort to see this.

I hope Brian and the guys will be well rehearsed, in order to ensure the best possible performance.

I imagine the new album will be out by then.  As Les says, odds on a filmed release?  Make 'yer bets.

You gotta like this quote - We’ve got some new tunes we want to try out on a live crowd as well as doing some great music from our catalogues.”

New tunes, as in plural. That's a good sign. Should be a very interesting tour, albeit mini tour.

The plural "catalogues" too. Maybe some solo stuff from Al & Dave, as well.

The Brianista Prayer

Oh Brian
Thou Art In Hawthorne,
Harmonied Be Thy name

But Deliver Us From Mike Love.

Every time I see a picture of Jeff Beck, I think of Christopher Guest in Spinal Tap. I assume his amp will be set to 11. I'm trying to envision what Jeff Beck guitar solos and fills will sound like with Brian, or with Dave Marks and company.

I don't how to feel about this. Is JB the opening act.?..How will he possibly fit in with 90 minutes of BB?BW music.. Yes im aware of JB live tribute stuff ..And what about the audience reaction.? I myself LOVE JB and have seen him numerous times live..But it does seem to be an ODD pairing.!

The fact it is an odd pairing is what makes this endeavor particularly intriguing to me!  Even if the new album is JT'd until it's lifeless, perhaps we'll get more exciting live renditions of new songs in person (and on YouTube).

I agree Jeff Beck and Brian Wilson - though I admire both - are an odd mix. That is what makes this intriguing. Both are supremely talented and Brian still has the capacity to surprise in a good way.

I do not get the feeling that this new record is GIOMH II, there is a real collaboration between Brian, Brian's band and the guests. Enough that Jeff Beck is doing some concerts with them.

While we're at it, who is Brian Wilson?

If you find anybody here in this town that who knows who Brian is, he probably is a friend of mine I told him about...

Hey Little Tomboy is creepy. Banging women by the pool is fun and conjures up warm summer thoughts a Beach Boys song should.
