The price does not bother me since I am rich.

Grin

The price would bother me even if I were rich. Retail price of $150 for 6 CDs and a book? I won't be getting it until the price drops under $100.

Sorry to beat a dead horse. I'll let everyone get back to debating the origin of the name John Q Public.

My comment was tongue-in-cheek. Smiley

Won't buy any more CD:s or box sets, because I never use them. I have listened to TSS CD:s once, the first night I got them. After that I've streamed them on my computer. Why pay 140 dollars or so when you can get it for free (Spotify)?

True. Smiley If you have a decent paying job you become rich by not wasting money on things you do not really need. A Swedish family saves in average USD 1 300 per year, I manage to save that amount every month.

I'll be your financial advisor but there's only 1 lesson.  Listen up.

1. Don't buy anything on credit
2. Save about 10% of your money
3. Give away about 10% of your money

if you do those three things, you'll end up with too much money to keep track of.

Watched a documentary yesterday and the barren landscapes really fascinated me. Especially the parts with no ice.

I don't have a lot of money and I can't really comfortably afford MIC, however there's no question of me not buying it. Why? Because, you know, I'm a freakin' Beach Boys obsessive! I couldn't not own it. I've no interest whatsoever in downloading or streaming or whatever. I want - no, I need - the psychical item.

My decision to not buy it (unless it goes below $100) will probably drive me to insanity. I am dying to hear the content of disc 6 and WIBNTLA, also I want to get my hands on that book.

I'm sure the price will go down, so I'm not too worried....I'm just irritated I haven't been able to order the thing yet.

I can completely understand how some people need the physical item. But for me (and maybe some other people) I think not having the physical set will be a plus. The opportunity to compile your own track list from this and the other rarities comps and to possibly omit some songs is appealing.

You are aware that Amazon doesn't actually charge your credit card until they ship the item right?  So why not lock it in now and then if the price doesn't go down before the release date you can cancel it.  I think they also have a policy (used to anyhow) where if you lock in a certain price and the price escalates afterwards, the initial price you locked in is the one you pay.  Of course, if the price decreases you are charged the lesser amount.

Yeah, that policy still exists. But I'm not sure I'll be using Amazon for this purchase.

Presumably, this will be on Spotify the same day (or shortly after release) - so those of you who are patient could always just listen to it that way and wait until it drops in price to add it to your collection.

One - your choice to play TSS just the once and nothing to do with the price: me, I played the bejeesus out of the CDs for about six months.

Two - I use Spotify the other way around, to see if a release is worth buying in toto or just cherry picking the best tracks on download.

I just have absolutely zero interest in downloading anything. I want to OWN things. I want a collection. Isn't that what it's partly all about? Well, it is to me anyway. I want the joy of holding MIC in my hands, flicking through the book, etc. In much the same way if I hear a rarity on YouTube or something, I'll still want to get hold of a bootleg copy on CD or vinyl. I want a collection on my shelf, not on my f**king laptop. (And as for people watching films on their computers - they should be rounded up and shot, but that's a thread for another day...)

As for the Smile Sessions: I took the CDs out of the box, stored them in separate plastic CD cases and listened to 'em endlessly - I still listen to them regularly in fact. The box got carefully stored to keep it in pristine condition (it's still in the cardboard box and bubble wrap in which it arrived) and then every so often I get it out to have a look through the (excellent) contents. It gives my spine a tingle every time. It's a phenomenal set, I'm so glad I own it, and I imagine MIC is going to be equally great.

It has a lot to do with what value for money a person feels they have got though.

Are people going to play the bejeesus out of the first 4 discs of MiC including all of the songs they already have? If they are they might get value for money even with the high price. If they're not then they won't.
