w00t! I just got my copy! Just in time for Saturday night! I sampled most of the tracks on the way home LOUD in my car. I think the majority of Beach Boy fans will be happy.

Yeah, there are a few songs that sound "off". Mike's vocals don't sound right on "Do It Again". Is it auto tuning or post production?  I don't know but it still sounds alright. The same with Brian on a few songs. 'Add Some Music' and "Good Vibrations' might have some post production things going on with his voice (auto tuning, echo, double tracking, Jeff singing with Brian???)  but it still sounds alright. In comparison, Brian sounds really strong on 'Heroes and Villains' and 'Marcella'. Mike is strong on other tracks, too.

You can hear more in the production of this set as compared to the Japanese TV concert which I think is very good. I seem to hear more guitars in different places. Other things as well.

Again, I think most fans will be happy. I need to listen to the entire thing which I'll do tonight. Beach Boys Party tonight!  Beer Pirate

Anybody else get their copy yet?

Producers: Brian Wilson, Joe Thomas

Production Supervisor: Christine D. Reagan

Editor: Skip Masters

Final Mix: Joe Thomas, Frank Pappalardo

Production Coordinator: Jessica Bish

***********************************************

No concert venues are mentioned in the credits.

There is a nice photo of all five Beach Boys inside the booklet. There are also five individual photos. The photo featuring Bruce shows him jumping across the stage but it really looks like he's being lifted up in air by his shirt collar.  LOL Scott, John, and Michael are in the photo as well. They are the only band members you can see in the photos in the booklet.

From the sampling I did on my car stereo 'TWGMTR' and 'Isn't it Time' sounded good.

If you'd been reading the 'amazon listing' thread for the past 2 days, you'll have seen some very poor reviews of the album. Reading yours, I must question your statement about H&V. It just sounds awful! http://soundcloud.com/moar-freddie/h-v-snippett

For those looking for HQ samples, i've put a couple up here

I just had a HUGE grin on my face. Grin

EDIT: "Don't Back Down" doesn't even sound like Mike anymore. Weird.

Well, the truth is that the man singing Mike's vocals is 'imposter Mike Love'. The real Mike Love was exiled from the band years ago. (your story here  Shocked)  And you think the 'Paul is Dead' conspiracy was false... Roll Eyes

I listened to H&V and Sail On Sailor and if Brian is auto tuned then I have no problem with it. Listening to snippets doesn't do any song justice. Is auto tuning not 'pure'? I think Brian would have experimented with or even used auto tuning when he was making 'Pet Sounds' being the perfectionist that he was.

Bruce sounds really good on 'Disney Girls'. Is there auto tuning there? I don't know.

If Mike is auto tuned then so is his stage banter. If you listen to the banter on 'Be True To your School' it sounds consistent with the vocals.

I just listened to the entire CD(s) and it really brought me back to the day I saw the concert.  Smiley

TWGMTR sounds like there was a lot of post production. I think this live version of "Isn't It Time' should have been released as the single, not the studio or remix. (yeah, it wasn't produced yet)

Just a message to everyone. Have a Coke. Have a Pepsi. Have a few Beers. Order a Pizza. ENJOY the album. DON'T listen for auto tuning. I'm starting my second listening.

I hate the term 'it is was it is' but, it is what it is. It's the Beach Boys 2012. Thanks for the memories.  Cool

Will I be the only BB fan in the universe who thinks this album is good? Wow... Transcendental Meditation

No matter what, I'm buying this album. C50 gave me my first (and second) Beach Boys show, and I'm happy to have any chronicle of that time I can. Yeah, I can hear all the vocal processing, but whatever. I love these guys. I can't wait.

Bruce adds the words 'Texas Town' while singing 'Disney Girls'. The crowd cheers. Grande Prairie, Texas? Second show on the tour.

Were songs from the Texas show available on the internet or radio? NPR, maybe? I want to say yes from what I remember.

Show 2: Verizon Theatre - Grand Prairie, TX 4/26/12

I have the full Grand Prairie show, and at least some of it was used for the NPR show. If I remember right, on the NPR show California Girls, at least, is from that performance.

Stephen Thomas Erlewine from allmusic gave it a decent review.

I am not focusing on the auto-tune. I try to avoid it but it's impossible for me. I am jealous of anyone who can listen to this and not hear those elements. You're lucky.

Locking this thread. There's something called Album, Book and Video Reviews And Discussions on this forum, a few entries down on the main page. All reviews are to be placed there and there only, within the forum "21st Century Beach Boys Albums".

In case you cannot find the thread for the new release, it can be found here -
