How long can they conduct this parallel tour existence? I can only hope that they do this for a year and that they reunite for the album and more major shows. I predict that this will happen and that Mike will say "I made it clear that I was never against that."

I predict it carries on for less than six months from the start of the tour before Brian stops working with Al and David.

They have already exceeded that starting with the C50 album and tour.

Which is why I said "six months from the start of the tour", not "six months from a year ago"...
Point is they obviously enjoyed working together thru the C50 that thet are carrying on. Just sayin...

I think that was covered way back in March 2102. Insert oh-my-gawd-who-can-ever-believe-it-wow-we-certainly-don't-already-know-that outrage here, hopefully that'll cheer you up.

Will there be chicken wings, tho?

Yes, but you-can-bet-your-pent-up-outrage that they'll be laboratory-made chicken wings....

I think this is just another testament to why the boys nee dto be together...and anyone that thinks it's okay for Brian to play a zoo but not "The Beach Boys" really needs to re-evaluate their stance on all that is beach boys related...

I just bought tickets for the casino show in Atlantic City on July 20th. I pray it is not too beneath them to play such a venue. Wink

I was tempted (since they haven't announced a date closer to me), but those ticket prices are outrageous!

I bought the $55 tix, but with all the fees, it came to $72. I got 4th row, section F, so center stage and fairly close too.

FYI, the show at the zoo isn't as lame as it may seem to people unfamiliar with it: the Minnesota Zoo hosts great shows every year. This summer will also include big names like Joan Baez, Dr. John, and Richard Thompson--hardly the cheesy cheerleaders Beach Boys image I know was debated in the Great Casino Rants of other threads. (Though others definitely are maybe a bit more, um, well, if you can't say something nice...) The Monkees reunion tour was there last year (or the year before or whenever that happened). Previous performances have included Florence + the Machine, the Suburbs, Derek Trucks...a wide range of things. And plenty of local and regional acts that lean hipster if anything play there as well: Chris Koza/Rogue Valley, Jeremy Messersmith, Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Michelles.

It's booked by a company that handles quite a few diverse venues in the area, including theaters, clubs, and festivals.

I went for broke and got the $85 plus fee seats. Section c, 3rd row.

I love that it is the BAD tour....which brings to mind the sight of Brian dancing around the stage, as he did in the Landy years, hollering "Hoo! Chum On! Chum On! I'm Bad!" Bet David could contribute some cool guitar to this spectacle. And Al could change his underwear.

Some very interesting opening act notes for the Interlochen show:

"Beach Boys leader Brian Wilson will be joined by fellow Beach Boys Al Jardine and David Marks along with the vocal trio Wilson Philips, featuring Brian Wilson’s daughters, Carnie and Wendy, with Chynna Phillips."

Source: http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2013/04/interlochen_welcomes_beach_boy.html

Note that Matt Jardine also tours with Wilson Phillips, as does Carnie's hubby, Rob Bonfiglio.

What would be a good name for such a tour? Something like The Beach Boys...Family And Friends perhaps ? Wink

Wondering if any more dates are going to be announced? Almost June. I wouldn't even call this a tour.

You could call it a warmup for a tour, but it seems kinda dim to do that during the Summer, a season which I hear these lads have written a few songs about...

But yes, this is very curious. Guess we have to wait until someone interviews them during the tour seeing as they're doing no press now (cos of the live album?)

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.
What is this "life" thing you speak of ?

I've been wondering that myself. I can think of a few possibilities.

1.) The new album has been consuming Brian's time, and there will be promo commitments he'll have to undertake in the late summer or fall. Therefore, the summer dates are just a bit of a mini-tour.

2.) They couldn't get bookers interested.

3.) Brian really didn't want to do more. He's taken years off from touring before.

4.) They are still planning extra dates for the late summer / early fall, but have yet to announce them.
