Hasn't Richards always been credited with playing on Lumpy Gravy?

I don't know as I don't have a physical copy of LG to check for myself.  Undecided  However upon re-examining this thread, I saw that Craig already posted a copy of the video I linked to. Sorry, Craig-- looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

No worries! I just saw this thread bump and remembered that there were many things left hanging with this, and stuff I need to follow up with from a month ago. There is some fantastic information hiding behind a curtain here, and if it can be worked out perhaps it will become available in some way.

A semi-related FYI: If the name Neil LeVang rings a bell with fans of studio musicians or guitarists in general, or more specifically as the guitarist who was shown playing on TV with Lawrence Welk every week from about 61 to 81 or thereabouts, the Welk people even have something on their website posted about Neil's studio work with Zappa. I think LeVang played sessions (or a session) with Zappa a year or so before the photos in this thread were taken, but I thought it was interesting to add as another visible/notable session guitarist who played on some Zappa sessions.

Neil LeVang is a terrific guitarist, BTW.  Smiley

I'd also consider buying a full compilation of the interviews like Richards', all the outtakes and stories that didn't make it into the film's final cut. Great stuff, great info!

Yes, LeVang was one of the many players on the "Wrecking Crew" date for Freak Out.

I found more and more info...sometimes being an incurable insomniac pays off...

Here's one which seems to be showing Lyle Ritz on upright, unless it's another one of the bassists on the credits that looks like Lyle...Is this Lyle? And who is it on keys?

P.F. Sloan on piano ?

Neil LeVang also played dobro on "Love Surrounds Me" from "L.A. Light"/"Bambu".

I guessed Lincoln Mayorga on page one, but still need confirmation.

I'm now thinking the bassist is Bob West.
