I listen to it maybe 5 times a year tops. More than I listen to Keepin' the Summer Alive, mind you. That probably gets only one spin before I scream at the stereo and think to myself "WHY oh WHY did this pile of sh*t get out?!"

WOW!
Josie Cotton yesterday, Tracey today! Some of the best music of the 80's that hasn't been rediscovered yet.
Laurie, you're uber-hip.

Pretty accurately. I don't know if that's a BAD thing, per se.....since it's dirty fun.

So I'm *not* the only one who has listened to Summer in Paradise this year. Excellent!
yup, hahah
Something tells me that those of us who actually have a copy of "Summer in Paradise" probably listen to it more than we're willing to admit.
haha this is true.
Currently listening: room mate and friend babbling on about something

Rick Nelson's cover of Love Story by Randy Newman, amazingly good! It's Nelson sings Nilsson (as in primary inspiration taken from Harry's interpretation). The arrangement, sound FX and singing take cues as well from Smiley-Era Beach Boys (opens with water as a rhythm section for one thing, the sound of a troubador's boat being oared through Hawaiian waters) and seemingly Van Dyke Parks, a very modular deal. Who put this Ricky-Rick song together?

Television -- "Close Up"
This early stuff sounds a lot like really early Beatles, and they probably went through three phases in 5-6 years. All nice. Stuff like "Close Up" and "Eat the Light" has this slow, vague country feel...more like dry Ricky Nelson. And Hell's bass playing is really melodic.
