The 13th Floor Elevators' 1967 album. I'd say the tracks match the cover which is beautiful. would like to get 2003 Charly reissue d/l.

right now:
The Rachmaninov preludes are grate. And the Scriabin of course, too.
Great record \actually. An industrial success! "Honk" HOnk"
earlier:
I really like the first side. It reminded me of Holland -era beach boys and Deja Vu-CSNY.
I lost interest somwhere during the first LP. Gonna try again to get through it. Definitley some interesting stuff on here

I think it was undercover-m who recommended this.
It's right up my street too. Long live shoegaze!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uL8v7qOyD4Y
I don't think I've mentioned this band before, but I've heard of them.
This is certainly something I can listen to. Thanks for the recommendation!
M, it took me a while but the strings "floral sofa" and "album cover" eventually got me to your mystery "local band" at PSF.
Chastity Belt's
Time to Go Home
sounds wonderfully fresh. The ladies introduce themselves in their video of "Cool Slut":

I'm glad you've checked them out, john! Nice to know someone reads my posts over there.
I listened to Angel Olsen's new album on a plane ride today.

I've been listening to the full-length version of "Moaner" by Underworld, as used in the movie
Batman & Robin
:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7cqEasrY00
I have their brilliant album
Beaucoup Fish
, which closes with a slightly truncated version of "Moaner", but the above cut is unabridged.

"Village Green" by the Kinks. Wow! What a f-ing brilliant song, I just discovered it today, and I've already listened to it about seven times now. The rest of the album is also brilliant (my other favorites so far have been "Wicked Annabella" and "Standing By the Riverside"), but this one really sticks out for me. I just started listening to the Kinks today, obviously starting with "The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society", and I really like what I'm hearing!

In my opinion (and the captain... and perhaps Pitchfork, too), her albums get progressively better. Although "Miranda" is a wonderful track off of HWH.
I'm in love with this newest one, though. It's really good, and I've been overplaying it.
But right now, I'm listening to:

Listening to Adam Marsland's "The Big Bear" and reading his comment about "the cello hook which I'm sure is ripped off from something or other", it does have a whiff of the VU's "Lady Godiva's Operation" about it, more shapewise than notewise, I'd say. And a bowed instrument is involved on both occasions...

Hi, M (I refuse to call you what they've decided on over there, hahaha).
These artists----and, I regret to say, Vampire Weekend----are where our musical tastes tend to drift apart somewhat. All three make little or no impression on me. Protomartyr and Chastity Belt are a different matter! (Any other Hardly Art-ists you'd recommend?)
I'm still out on your current favourite----waiting to hear her latest album complete, I suppose...

Thank you for not using the name I have recently been dubbed.
That's a shame, john. Any love for the Shins or Fleet Foxes or Tame Impala at all? Another three I adore, so...
But, currently, thanks to the music library of Bubbly Waves:

I have an illegal copy of
Wincing The Night Away
, which I haven't played in years. Must rectify that soon...
A while back I somehow found my way to James Mercer's Broken Bells. I started on
After the Disco
before general opinion drove me towards the debut, which I loved.
Same goes for Kevin Parker's Pond----
Hobo Rocket
is, well, a blast.
As for Fleet Foxes, I have
Helplessness Blues
, which I remember liking----another album I must revisit soon.
I don't
hate
the three other artists (SJS, BH and VW)----they just don't register with me. Anyway, it would be weird if I liked
everything
you like.
Meanwhile, here's something you might try:

Opinion. Me and Mr. Stevens parted ways when he released this. His best, for now, is behind him.

Having a bit of trouble with her voice, on first listen, but the writing is very good. I'll spend a morning with her, later. All I found on youtube was the tracks. Do you know of a video to post?

But, currently, thanks to the music library of Bubbly Waves:
Hey John. Hey undercover-m and Bubs. I'm not calling you that. Wasn't that just in the shoutbox? That should scroll away soon... Wait, in the We're Getting Drunk threads? Tell folks that you don't like it. If they do it again, tell them again! Don't wait for them to read it over here.
I don't really know the music of the Fleet Foxes, but I like Tame Impala very very much, one of the better modern bands - great live, too! I own one of the Shins' albums, and like most of what I have played over the years.
I've gotten to know Bubbly's moods well over time, and his musical likes and dislikes, so - his library if you will. I love the Everly Brothers. If you look around, I've posted about it here.
Hope all of you are headed towards a great week-end. I See You -Will
