And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

As great as the C50 shows were last year, they still lacked Carl's presence and vocals on stage. The glue, the voice, the Angel.

On Stage As It Is In Studio,

As We Also Have Forgiven Our Wife And Managers,
And Lead Us Not Into Kokomo,
But Deliver Us From Mike Love.

Carl Wilson:  The greatest vocalist in the history of modern music and the man most responsible for keeping the Beach Boys' music alive for the final 30 years of his life.  Music lovers, in general, and Beach Boys fans, in particular, owe you so much for refusing to let the band die when the rigors of a tremendously hectic life became too much for your big brother.  Without your leadership and determination, the Beach Boys likely would have (in the words of one noted composer) ceased to exist as early as the 1970s.  Thanks for refusing to let that happen. We miss you, Carl Wilson. RIP, Great Man!

R.I.P Carl. Thank heavens his voice is still with us.

This is my first post, been reading the forum avidly for months but it felt right to make my first small contribution today.

He had the best voice other than maybe Brian at his peak, R.I.P Carl, you were the glue that held the group together all those years and your voice will live on for god only knows how long.

P.S welcome to the forum Sandeve.

It's now been as many years since Carl passed (15) as years that had elapsed since Dennis' passing at the time of Carl's passing (15).
Hard to believe.

RIP Carl.
When they get here, I'll show my children your one of a kind voice.

Thanks so much for brightening my soul.

One testament to Carl's importance in the BBs is just how many people it took to cover onstage what he did during the 50th celebration. Jeff, Al, Brian, and Darian were singing his parts/leads, David and Scott T. played his guitar parts, etc. And, of course, for those of us who were lucky enough to attend 50th shows with the video screen, there was GOK with Carl himself singing the lead. It takes a village, indeed.

I still love and miss that guy.... he was the real deal.

Hard to believe.

It's been even longer -- Dennis only died fourteen years, one month and nine days before Carl. Hard to believe indeed.

Carl died the day I was married, so it's a date I shall never forget. RIP Carl Wilson, beautiful voice and a sad loss to the Beach Boys.
