Seriously, this is even worse than "The Surfsiders Sing The Beach Boys Songbook." At least that was funny and campy, this is just agonizingly bad. From the mangled intro to "Surfin' USA" to the horribly synthesized marimbas on "All Summer Long," this is aural torture.

I think I've heard it before. Aweful doesn't even begin to describe it. Everything from the stagnant production to the the guy's horrendous voice makes this record one of the worst of all time.

I mean, it certainly isn't the worst thing I've ever heard. If you take it on the level of some guy in his project studio trying to re-create some Beach Boys songs, he does a pretty nice job of mimicking the original arrangements with a limited sonic palate at his disposal.

That said, why anyone would want to listen to this when the original recordings still exist is beyond me.  Huh

I looked through the thread before I listened and assumed people were talking about Adrien Baker or Jeff Foskett Beach Boys covers. More likely the former's, obviously.

My mom and dad went to see a free concert in a county park (the county park system puts on free concerts during the summer) this past summer.  In fact, it was the day before I went and saw the 50th Anniversary show.  The show they saw was some outfit billing themselves as a Beach Boys tribute band and from the way my mom described it... it was absolutely horrid.  Glad I didn't go!

Or Lou Reed's cover of "Peggy Sue" on a recent Buddy Holly tribute CD...
