I went to Barnes and Noble and couldn't find it. Is it in any stores or do I have to order it online?

Hi MTR. It is in major bookstores. Whereabouts are you? You could also order via Amazon or the iBookstore, or, like I mentioned in my other post, I could sell you a signed copy directly.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

I've seen it at Barnes & Noble around here.  It's a slick looking book, by the way!  I bought the NOOK version...but I might have to go and pick up the physical version to put on the shelf.  They're some GREAT stories told within the pages.

Thanks for buying and for your kind words. You know, when you buy the hard copy, the publisher will give you a digital version for free. I'm very grateful for the book jacket design. Dave Gee, the designer, by pure coincidence, lives right across the street from me. He did a great job doing it in a 7" 45-record format.

Well perhaps it wasn't in stock at the time. I will try again before I head back to Dallas so I can read it on the plain.

I've got all the way up to KTSA and I love it! There's been passages in the book that I honestly didn't know about. Like James Gurcio's introduction to the BB or Randy Bachman possibly collaborating with Brian, I had no idea! Great research my friend! What a way to do it with the closest folks you can get to those songs. Heck, I think you could do a second volume with 50 other people, honestly!

I'm now up to Midnight's Another Day, this book is brilliant!

All I gotta ask is, I think in the introduction, Mark says there was a couple he wanted to interview like Marilyn Rovell and VDP...but they're not all about talking about the Beach Boys stuff anymore ( I think that's what I read)...anyways, I was wondering what songs you were gonna ask them about? like Marilyn- Caroline No or Be True to Your School? Maybe the song Marilyn Rovell?  Wink  Or what song for VDP? Cabinessence? Orange Crate Art?

Wait, did the particular interviewee pick the song? I can't remember.

Thanks so much, JP.

I would usually work out the song to be discussed with the interviewee. I might've come to them with a suggestion, or they may have suggested one to me. If I had interviewed her and I'd had my druthers, I think I would've asked Marilyn about BTTYS, because that song not only features The Honeys prominently, but came out around the time that she became a big part of Brian's life. I would've given some consideration to "Caroline, No" as well, but I don't think that would've been a great idea. She has said that she thinks the song is about her, whereas Tony Asher says otherwise. As for Van Dyke, I would've suggested "Heroes and Villains," since that marks the beginning of their Smile collaboration. He very politely declined. He said he'd had enough about talking about The Beach Boys. I came back to him and said that we could just as well talk about "Orange Crate Art," which is really his project, but still no dice.

Of course, the other big one who wouldn't talk to me was Ricky Fataar. I can't tell you why, because he never responded to my requests. But it would have been great to have him talk about "Marcella" or something else from the Carl & the Passions era.

I agree about Ricky! I would love some insight on So Tough.
