Which do you guys prefer?

I'm a PS Box original speed man myself. Feels so much more natural, and I tend to bristle at anything with an overt Murray influence (it was Murray's idea to speed it up on the album).

You can't ruin or improve that great a song by simply speeding it up or slowing it down. It's still Caroline, No. But personally, I've grown used to the sped up version. It's the one I heard first and grew to love. Was Murry right, I don't know, but at least his idea didn't ruin the song.

Original speed boxset version, by a narrow but significant margin. Murry f---ed with Brian's formula (even if Brian acquiesced).

Sped up - original is just too slow!

Non-sped up, and in stereo. Thankyouverymuch. I feel pretty strongly about it, too.

You can soak so much more into the song in its original speed. I can almost not even listen to the originally-released sped up version anymore, it lacks sooo much by comparison, especially due to the nuances in Brian's vocal delivery, and every shimmery moment of the backing track - both of these are diminished when sped up unnaturally. Brian just doesn't sound like Brian.

It just glistens more in its original speed. IMO.

Original Pet Sounds album sped-up version in glorious mono. That stereo box set one is like molasses. One of the few good musical ideas Murry Wilson ever had, to speed it up, and Brian agreed with it.

I like both, though the feeling of the song and the lyric comes through better on the original speed version.

I prefer the sped up mono version because that is what I first heard and knew. The slowed down version in stereo is really good, though. You can see what Brian was going for.

The melancholy, yearning emotionality of the tune is much more visceral at Brian's original intended speed IMO.
