I dunno about you but tribute albums always seem to give me a warm new perspective on any of my favorite artists. I know of several for The Beach Boys but only care for a handful of them. If you know of more include them but these are the selections I have:

1. Caroline Now!: The Music of Brian Wilson & The Beach Boys
2. Smiling Pets
3. Mojo Presents: Pet Sounds Revisited
4. Smile, Vibes & Harmony
5. Do It Again: A Tribute To Pet Sounds
6. Surf's Up: The Beach Boys South American Tribute
7. Making God Smile: An Artists' Tribute To The Beach Boy Brian Wilson

Not necessarily an album but the All-Star Tribute to Brian Wilson DVD is as good as tributes can get.

I'll have to check that out. Some of the artist contributions listed make it sound kind of soft-rocky but I'll definitely take a look-see. Dunno if you've listened to these but most of the top few ones in the list are mostly indie-ish/neo-psychedelic-y bands. The Flaming Lips cover of "God Only Knows" and Olivia Tremor Control's "Do You Dig Worms?" are to die-for. As well as everything on Caroline Now!

Olivia Tremor Control - "Do You Like Worms? (Do You Dig Worms?)"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oN31urwP03I

Probably exactly what the song would have been had Brian Wilson been born in 1980.

Here's The Flaming Lips' version of "God Only Knows"

Katrina Mitchell on "Wind Chimes" - really sheds a light of beauty on the Smiley Smile version of the song.

The Mojo one is okay; Caroline Now is very good indeed; the jazz one is so-so. Might have worked better with less of a 'smooth' jazz vibe. Jeffery Osborne's Wouldn't It Be Nice is excruciating. Stars and Stripes belongs largely in the sh*t category too, but I'll except Warmth of the Sun, Caroline, No (and maybe 409) and the unused In My Room. I mean, Toby fucking Keith with Be True to your School...

The All-Star tribute DVD *is* a little soft-rock -- it's very oriented to 70s AOR middlebrow acts, and if you're more into the Elephant 6 style stuff (as I am) you may find it a little bland. That said, it's worth it for Paul Simon's lovely reworking of Surfer Girl, and Brian's band back everyone so it never enters too far into Joe Thomas territory.

Portland Smiles: A Tribute to the Beach Boys (2013)

Collin Jenkins----Heroes and Villians [sic]
New Move----Vegetables
Turbo Perfecto feat. Operation Mission----Fall Breaks and Back to Winter
Porches----She's Goin' Bald
Radiation City----Little Pad
Adam Brock----Good Vibrations
Jared Mees and The Grown Children----With Me Tonight
Dave Depper----Wind Chimes
Seth Mankowski----Gettin' Hungry
Alison Ables----Wonderful
Typhoon----Whistle In

Conceived and produced by local comedian and musician Jesse Bettis, Portland Smiles is a tribute to the uniqueness of the original Smiley Smile recordings as seen through the lens of a new generation of artists. Featuring tracks by established Portland stars and up-and-comers alike, the Portland Smiles versions of the songs vary greatly in their approach but portray a common spirit that is uniquely Portland. From Collin Jenkins’ spot on indie rock makeover of “Heroes and Villains” and Adam Brock’s acoustic take on “Good Vibrations” to Typhoon’s haunting, minimal version of “Whistle In”, and Radiation City’s vibey “Little Pad” the eclectic and haphazard approaches to recording Portland Smiles are a tribute to the frenetic, tattered genius of the original recordings.

It's a genuine fact that the Beach Boys rule.

Is the booklet from Caroline Now worth it or should I buy it cheaper from iTunes?

Oh. I rather liked it. Perhaps I should stick to palindromes. Grin
