Uglier but much more user friendly "Community" though the ability to add pics & vids will no doubt provide a little sport for some.
The old store is gone, as are all the old messages from the previous board.

That's kinda what I don't like about "official boards" of any artist. Once in a while they decide to revamp the site or upgrade web software and they'll just erase the messageboard completely and start anew. I don't particularly like that.
But I will say that the new board does look good, I like that format more than the last one even though I never posted there.

It would be impossible to move the old posts to the new board system.

A shame though, as Phil had only today posted something we could all agree with. And now it's gone. Forever.
Unless it's in your browser history:
"Apparently, some new Beach Boys CD's are coming from EMI's Japan affiliate on July 25th. This will cover the released albums from "Surfin' U.S.A." to "Smiley Smile" with each album in both mono & stereo, plus stereo only discs of "Sunflower" & "Surf's Up".
The discs have been supervised, remastered and/or mixed by Mark Linett, Alan Boyd & Dennis Wolf.
While I am pleased that some "50th Anniversary" CD product is finally going to be released, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't make the fans pay through the nose for costly $30-$35 Japanese import discs. The absurd price of Japan-only product will syphon enormous amounts of money out of the fans without producing any more artist or publishing royalties(for The Beach Boys) than reasonably priced U.S.A. CD's would.
I hope that, through this forum, my message can reach the powers that be(The Beach Boys & Capitol Records). Japan-only releases of these remastered discs will only scorch the fans, and create an epidemic of online piracy to provide the remasters to fans that can't afford the very pricey Japanese discs.
If there is going to be worldwide release for these discs, it is time for Capitol to make its intentions known....before fans order and overpay for these Japanese discs.
"
I can only agree with that now that the cat's out of the bag, fans perhaps might as well be informed of any worldwide release (or let down gently).
That said, I'm not going to go ape over it
Phil, if you'd rather I didn't reproduce your post here, just say and I'll edit it out. But it says some worthwhile things which I considered were worth keeping out there since they've been deleted from the Bloo.

I'm delighted that you've reposted it here!
The redesign of the Brian Wilson website not only involved permanently destroying all previous forum posts, it also involved ditching all of the forum's previous participants. If you really desperately want to participate, you've got to set up an all-new user name and password. I think I'm going to just forget about that forum and website altogether. Whomever redesigned the website obviously never heard of the expression, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Ditching all of the forum's already existing members is appalling.

The old forum was pretty sh*t really Phil, for all it's bright lights and such. Took me less time to register at the new board than any board I've ever joined before, and that included adding an avatar.
I'd recommend you give it a try.

Which is fine...I get that. I'm just saying it's for that reason why I don't post on "official boards" because the frequency where they will revamp the site/software is much greater than a fan site (like Smiley Smile) who isn't worried about their site design needing an update just because a new album is out or a new tour is starting.

Tumblr? Whatever they pay their website designer, it's way too much. Though their webmaster already proved his mettle with the crappy thread design and the fact that people could never post links properly.

What is most interesting about this website redesign is that Brian Wilson is no longer being presented as a solo artist, but rather as a member of The Beach Boys.

I wonder if they parted ways with the web designer? It seems a bit odd that they'd go to such a generic, low-budget format as Tumblr and whatever generic-type engine they have running the new message board.

Which took me all of 30 seconds.
The old Bloo was as archaic as a Model T. There had been discussions about revising the forum (which included discarding it entirely) for some considerable time. Now, it's more user friendly to the average user.

Good. I foolishy registered with my real name 12 year ago and have been waiting for a way to return in an anonymous fashion.
Ditching all the forums' existing members is the best thing they ever did. Most of them were idiot jackasses and hopefully they are too brain damaged (or Brian damaged) to figure out how to re-register.
The old format sucked. Who wants to navigate though all that ass-kissing garbage to find a useful nugget of information from AGD? Not I. Now I safely avoid things that I have no interest in (Smilin' Jeanie) and chew the sh*t with people with some shred of sanity when I find a legitimate topic of interest.

He was using Wordpress right before this. Looks like it's still DeMartin to me.
Doubt this is permanent -- just an easy way to do a more update-heavy site for the next few months.

Not a good decision to make all of BW.com (safe for the message board) an actual Tumblr blog.
There are quite a few BW fan sites at Tumblr that are all much more interesting than this rather insipid collection of fake-smile photographs.

the baseball player probably paid a bunch of money for the brianwilson.com domain name and now that Brian is a Beach Boy again, it's sort of unnecessary to have their official site, and one of his own?

Brian still owns the domain name, since the brianwilson.com URL brings the tumblr site. It could be a temporary site until they decide whether Brian will be in the Beach Boys for longer or not. In the meantime, the site can maximize the promotion for the new album and tour and has the market link to the Beach Boys' merchandise site. They could eventually build a new site that combines Brian's Beach Boy work with his solo work, or go back to the solo thing entirely.

Wasn't there news of a new official website for Mike Love that looked like the official Beach Boys/Capitol site ? I'd imagine that maybe each of the guys gets a own site that is connected with the Beac Boys/Capitol site. BTW that site doesn't really work for me.

Frankly, this is rather on the cutting edge of musical artists' websites. Especially the wholesale integration into Tumblr.
This will not be the last artist you see doing this. Note that in the TWGMTR liner notes, one of the three addresses is to the BB Facebook page.
Times are changing, and the notion you have to have a thisismemyself.com website is changing, especially when sites like Tumblr and FB offer a multitude of easy-to-use, social-network type features for free.

I also can't see the baseball player Brian Wilson spending a lot of money for a domain name because his career is highly likely to be over due to injury.

Yes, he does have a web site, but that was created long before he tore his elbow and required a second Tommy John surgery, which almost no pitcher comes back from. Someone suggested the pitcher BW might want to have exclusive rights to BrianWilson.com, without having to put his uniform number 38 in it, which would make it easier to find. At this point, the pitcher is on the DL and may or may not be a high profile public figure again, so I'm guessing that Beach Boy Brian Wilson will want to keep that BrianWilson.com domain to himself and there may not even be a buyer for it. Unless the Fox News Brian Wilson wants a web site with that domain name. Or the Christian singer Brian Courtney Wilson.

I'm going to be honest I don't even know much about him and I don't even watch baseball but I hate that other guy just for having the same name as our Brian Wilson for the simple reason that I don't what to see a picture or website about him when I type in google or hear comments about him when I search the name on Twitter. I get that it's just a name but that name happens to also belong to one of the biggest musical genius's in music. It would be like a basketball called Robert De Niro come along and becoming more famous that the actor, its annoying and he looks like a massive tw*at with that f*cking beard although i'm sure he's a nice guy.
