Specifically, the "get a job" / "what a blow" part....when the playback speeds up....

Now, notice how even though the playback speeds up, the tempo does NOT change! My first thought was that they painstakingly just sang gradually slower so that the sped-up playback would make the rhythm more constant, but if like me you have a friend who played Unsurpassed Masters Vol. 18 for you, you know that's not the case...

So...how did Brian manage to timestretch the recording in the analog days of '67???

All i can say is, Smiley Smile was the album that first made me realise there was more to the BB's than sun, surf and sand, and remains my favourite song on the album. Amazing, amazing track!
