I'm looking to put together a mix of the most historically important versions of Surf's Up, and was looking for some help on identifying and tracking down a few of them.

Here are one's I'm still looking for:

First recorded live Beach Boys performance? (Is it the 9/24 Carnegie Hall performance?)
First recorded Beach Boys performance WITH Brian? (May not exist)
Brian's first recorded live solo performance? (I'm thinking it would be from the Paul Simon tour, possibly the Mutual Admiration disc but I'm not sure)
'04 Royal Festival Hall Premiere (Can't believe I'm having a hard time tracking this down)

Other Definite inclusions:

Inside Pop Version
Piano Demo [Master Take]
'66 Backing Track
'67 "Wild Honey" Take
'71 Album Version
'11 SMiLE Sessions version or maybe Anne Wallace instead or maybe both

Any others you guys think I should include? [fingers crossed for a 50 anniversary tour version]

One obvious version missing is the BWPS version.

Oops! Totally meant to write that one down.

there's nothing about the Anne Wallace version that is of historical importance.

would be great if a live version of SU from the 70's gets included on the new box. I have my hopes up as they cannot do another GV box, no point...

I have a very low sound quality mp3 of a live recording they did with a symphonic orchestra some time in the early 70s. That might turn out pretty spectacular. That's what I want on the box, if it's not on there or WIBNTLA I won't buy the box! Read that, executives? Grin

The Vigotone Smile  bootleg version. First time I heard the orchestral track as an opening First Movement.

Doesn't somebody in the audience freak out during one of the quiet parts of Surf's Up live?

It reminded me a lot of the story of the acid-tripper who ran to the screen during "2001", screamin, "It's God, It's God!"

I love the harmony on the line "a children's song". And Crosby singing the line "Surf's Up aboard a tidal wave" makes me think that Mike's voice would have been the perfect choice to sing that line.

The '98 Joe Thomas version doesn't circulate, does it?

Also, I was considering the Anne Wallace version as a nod to the importance of fan mixes in the SMiLE saga, with that version being routinely touted as the yardstick by which other mixes are measured.

Still looking for answers and leads on all the ones I mentioned.
