Saw it on facebook and read it. Good interview !
One thing that I noticed: I think Dennis' vocal on "Forever" is the studio track added to the Central Park footage. I'm not sure as I have only seen some videos on youtube but that was my impression. Do you know it for sure that it's the live vocal ?

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

My impression was that it was partly the record, partly the film. I could be wrong on that.

I highly doubt they have a track for just his vocals from an old live performance.

Brian has several friends boycotting the tour?  That's pretty sad.  It's his band.

Interesting interview, thanks for sharing.

I don't know how to describe it other than to say that when it showed him singing on screen it sounded like the vocal from the film, but the last minute was the record for sure. That was just how it felt, it could have been played with to make it sound more live. Besides Carl's is from 1980 all the way so I can't rule out they used some of the 1971 audio.

Yeah sadly it's true, but maybe they will change their minds.

I don't get that logic.

Me either. I hope they read the interview and pick up on just how special this tour is.

Who are you talking about, exactly? Van Dyke Parks' comments at Freakbeat and the website?

I doubt we'll be told why, but I'm curious as to their reasoning for boycotting these concerts.

Partly Van Dyke. I have written Van Dyke to explain that me liking the work of pre 1976 Mike Love doesn't mean I don't like his work with Brian. He didn't respond but I feel good that he knows that my only goal is balance.

Others have posted on Facebook about the tour, but as that is (on some small level) private I choose not to mention who they are.

As to why they are refusing to support the tour, the Brian and the five jerks fallacy is the reason.
