And the contribution of David Marks cannot be measured !

Thank you for mentioning that; I forgot to note it in my post. David sang harmony on almost every song, and lead on "Hawaii". In was really cool; we have these songs ingrained in our heads, and you knew when a guitar solo was coming. And, David - wearing his aviator shades - would come to the front of the stage and just nail that solo! A minor quibble...David's guitar should be turned up more in the mix. He was playing these amazing parts, but they were kind of buried. One time I did see David motion to the sound guy to turn him up. Oh, and David was the smiliest for the Meet And Greet pictures.

Can anybody spot themselves

That's my father and I at the end of the 2nd row.
Your father's having a blast.  Smiley

Great to see Jimmy Fallon 2nd row left.

Looks like Jimmy Fallon's SNL cast-mate Cheri Oteri was present and is enjoying a very large beer in the front row...

So where's the picture of SurferGirl7?

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

I agree. I noticed this throughout the show. I also thought they could have brought Jeff Foskett's vocal mic up a bit in the mix too. Just a hair... It was a little too difficult to make out the lead on "Don't Worry Baby," not to mention some of his backup parts... at least from where I was sitting.

And I bought one of the Jardine CDs as well. It was nice to get some kind of autographed item so inexpensively... and I still had never owned or listened to the album anyway, so this was perfect for me.

I thought we were collectively bummed out about Jeff being too high up in the mix at the first 2-3 reunion appearances and worried about a "Jeff Foskett feat. The Beach Boys" tour in 2012?  Grin

Judging from the YouTube clips I've seen I think that Jeff is tastefully embedded in the mix.

I thought Jeff was perfectly mixed. Although, from where I was sitting, Dave Marks was blocking him, so I couldn't actually see him singing the leads, but he sounded strong.

Yeah, Jeff was really in the background most of the show. He was always right on with the high parts, and he handled them effortlessly, but he wasn't overbearing by any means. And, while he played a lot of guitar, all of the leads were done by David and Scott.

I was trying to watch the interplay between Brian and Jeff, and, Brian didn't need much help staying on cue, having Jeff double him, or having Jeff "pick up" for him if/when Brian lost his way. I think I counted two times where Jeff came to the rescue. Other than Mike, Brian had the most lead vocals. Jeff just kind of minded his own business; he was making eye contact more with Scott and Bruce.

I wonder if we'll see Break Away on this tour...

Edit: very short clip, but man, Brian looks really into this live:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT5bBCOpn6I

Bruce clearly stated that he hates that song so it might not happen.

He also said he didn't like Do It Again, so I doubt Bruce really gets to veto on those kinds of decisions.

Then again he also said he doesn't like the Friends album, maybe he's keeping them out of the set? Brow

Brian also clearly stated that he doesn't like Sail On Sailor. And he sings it on this tour.

Jesus christ!!! what is WRONG with this band Huh these are some of their best post Pet Sounds stuff !!!
i've never heard of these interviews before (i'm new around here..) am i missin' anything else that is absurd like this?

Well artists are sometimes critical of some of their best works but I really don't know, it's a mystery to me too. How Bruce can dislike the one-two punch of Friends and "Do It Again" is beyond me but to each their own.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Here's a (quite negative) review of the show. Reading the article, it's clear he went in with no knowledge of the band situation (i.e Jeff taking some leads).
Incidentally, this is the writer whom I won the tickets off of - it's a shame he didn't enjoy it like we did...

Sorry, but I don't have much respect for a professional writer who has several typos in a text he put online, doesn't know the name of the "backup guy" who took various leads, states that Wilson strapped on a guitar and generally relies on the same dumb lyrics references to stylize his writing. Also, he doesn't seem to know much about the BBs to begin with.

Hahaha....First, the guy states that the guys played 46 songs. 46 songs! Then he complains that 2 - a whole 2 - were sung by a backing band member. Scott Totten did a great lead falsetto to "Why Do Fools Fall In Love", but The Beach Boys were just as impressive with their background vocals.

I've always said this about baseball, after suffering through more than one insufferable "fan" in the next row for nine innings, that people should have to pass a written test before they're allowed into a stadium if they plan on commenting during the game, or certainly before being allowed to write about it. Same should be applied to dingbats like this fellow regarding music concerts. Well, at least I learned one thing I didn't know - Brian hasn't performed with them since 1984.
