Author Topic: Songs You DON'T Want To See On Any Forthcoming Career Perspective  (Read 9548 times)
Disney Boy (1985)

Hopefully the band or their assosciates or Alan Boyd or whoever is compiling the tracklisting for their forthcoming career-spanning release will read and take note of this thread!

Ok, songs that have inexplicably cropped up on Best Of's, compilations, etc that you really wish weren't there and that you really don't want included on any upcoming release.

I'll go with:

Student Demonstration Time
Here Comes The Night (79)

Fans and critics alike almost universally dislike these two songs, don't include them please, thank you!

EH. I'm not buying anything unless it's a remastered version of a full album so there aren't songs I don't want them to not include.

Unreleased stuff is cool toooo.

I would love to hear a clean, speed and pitch corrected version of Go And Get That Girl. Also, I have no problem with including that TM influenced song, All This Is That. Though I doubt it would be imcluded, I wouldn't mind the 45 mix of Here Comes The Night. I'm not a disco person, but man, I love the vocals. They sing their asses off on that one.

Well, with the TM songs not wanted, I propose a TM Medley:

My TM medley that I'd accept is the 2nd half of the TM Song ("What time is it, how long has it been?....) into the He Come Down into Transcendental Meditation.....That away, we get a good vocal from Al on a quirky 15 Big Ones tune that ISN'T an oldie....then a stellar vocal by Mike that he can still pull off, as Alan could too, plus we could get a perfect low vocal from Brian on HCD (perhaps the gospel vibe will hit Brian to write another gospel like song.) and then Al or Brian, whom ever sang Transcendental Meditation can take the lead and let the band jam out...I know I'd enjoy it.

And btw, if Cool Head and Warm Heart & All I wanna Do are considered TM, they NEED to be performed. I'd love love love to hear the guys do CHWH

I don't get you? Curt sings the lead and all background vocals? If so, he has Carl, Al & Bruce down pat.

I don't want to see any songs on forthcoming career perspective albums that the Beach Boys didn't sing.  Or record.  Or write.  As long as they keep it to that, I'll enjoy it.

I enjoy quite a few songs that they sang beautifully, but did not write, especially I'm So Young on Today. It's better than the original, imho.

I miss understood.

I don't think any of the comedy bits/album fillers should be on there  Wink

But then again, what constitutes as an album filler?
Mine just includes those of the spoken variety from Shut Down Vol. 2, ASL, and Today!

album fillers that are songs, that's another story.

The shocker would be that VDP was calling the shots.

I've often thought about the "higher up" people including something like that....I wouldn't mind.
As much as I cringe when the song is played....i have a soft part in my part from my childhood when I hear it...sometimes it makes me tear up because of the memory of what was once my childhood.

"Kokomo" is actually a very well-written song. Its caribbean trappings turn people off.

I'd rephrase that to "turn some people off". Apparently it turned on enough people to make it a number one record.
