PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

In any discussion of the great bassists of the Rock (and Roll) era, granted from the soul/R&B side of things.  I love watching film of Otis Redding and the Stax revues and how animated he is --- and just a kid.  Listen to the Otis at Monterrey tracks -- Dunn brings practically a punk rock energy to the performance!

This completely sucks. RIP, mate. Such a clean, powerful and righteous bassplayer.

I was vacationing from the internet to enjoy the gorgeous weather, checked in, and saw the news coming from Steve Cropper...very sad, but listening right now to the 1966 Stax Revue with Sam & Dave tearing it up on Hold On, I'm Comin...one of those videos that simply tore me up when I first saw it. Pure fucking energy, balls, showmanship, groove, among the top 3 *best* rhythm sections in music history, perhaps even #1 when you add it all up.

Duck Dunn was incredible, he will be missed but never forgotten and bassists will *always* be trying to learn his grooves.

For me, the third verse of "Soul Man", the Sam and Dave original, is one of the tightest and funkiest sections of music ever. Pure, amazing groove.

And this video, the '66 Revue:

One of the best ever and a sad loss, RIP Duck Dunn.

The PBS Stax documentary is a really affectionate/sometimes brute honest portrait of the label. So much amazing footage of the '67 tour, and Otis, and so much cool stuff. Stax is amazing.
