Mr. Stebbins, thank you. Your contributions are invaluable.
However, I must point out that many members of this board recently decided that the only appropriate behaviors at a Beach Boys show are taking notes and weeping (quietly). A rock concert is no place to be drinking daiquiris. I just hope you weren't singing along and dancing, as well. The horror. The horror.

Also, just like Global Warming deniers, you're part of the flat earth society Jon for having the balls to claim that Brian isn't lip syncing to a keyboard.
It's simply because you don't know much about music.
Sorry.

Gee Ron--between this comment here, and your one on the Raleigh thread...are you saying you DO or DON'T know much about music?

I'm saying anybody who can't hear the autotune, obviously knows nothing about music. It was carefully explained several times in several threads. Jon just thinks he enjoyed it, he readily admitted he didn't hear the autotune. Everybody knows Brian was autotuned.

"Everybody knows"--tha's a bold statement.
I heard a tape of one of the new shows, and I sure didn't hear it. Unless they were autotuning it to the wrong notes.
But what do I know about music?

Nothing. You must be late to the conversation, it's already been decided by others (I heard, you have to be in the music industry to hear it) that Brian is singing along to a youtube clip of himself that's fed through a vocoder like the one Cher used. Or something like that.
Anyways, the end result is the same: If you can't hear it, you must be an idiot, and Jon just signed off on being an idiot. Nevermind his long esteemed history with the band, others are just afraid to come tell him what I'm not: that he doesn't know what he's hearing.
It's really sad, because I thought he was an expert on the Beach Boys, then we discover this? He doesn't even hear the auto-tune Johnny I. Nerd heard on all those Iphone clips?

Ron is not afraid to voice his OPINION, even though he'll have you believe it is fact. I hear something on a few tunes, but seems to sound more like a guide vocal or doubling. If it is indeed Autotune, it is a damn shitty use of it. It might be auto-ing something, but it surely isn't tuning Brian's vocals.

It's not my opnion, DrBeachBoy, ask anybody who's a producer and they'll tell you that it's autotuned. You can tell on the Iphone recordings, but can't hear it in concert. Also you have to be in the music industry, or "It's hard to hear".
Of course I wouldnt' expect you to hear it, you obviously know nothing about music.

Dr, that's not true. People have mentioned it.
But we're ignoring the fact that Ron is just trying to wind everybody up.

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.

Even though I didn't believe it at first, hearing a show in very good quality finally convinced me something is going on with a few tunes, but not everything. For instance when Brian sings the second verse of California Dreamin', it sounds completely normal, yet TWGMTR sounds like he is singing to a guide vocal, or with someone on stage that is mixed very low.

The genius of the auto-tune they are using is that it makes Brian sound unpredictable. Its like auto-random, or auto-whatever, auto-who cares?...I think the technical name is - auto-who gives a fu*k. It only auto-tunes the space
between
his notes just so you can't hear it. Brilliant!

Exactly why whatever is being done to assist Brian is not Autotune.

Ron trying to wind everybody up? Ron stating his opinion as fact? I don't believe these allegations, and I challenge you to a duel.
The winner will get to plant a wet sloppy kiss on Ron's manly mouth - the mouth of objective Beach Boys truth! Then we'll see who is autotuned and who isn't... (Hint: Ron isn't, Brian isn't, I am not, and AGD may possibly be using autotune).
Also, I would like to insult your manhood in some way. I'll think of a good one later.

Ron, you aren't one of the good guys.
Ron is not one of the good guys around here - he is THE good guy. He is the white knight of the Beach Boys world. (I am almost certain he is white, as he is a regular poster on a Beach Boys messageboard).
If you can't handle the heat of the truth-a-la-vodka he's serving up, why don't you just crawl back into your cold, cold autotune hole? Guys like Ron and I don't have time for naysayers and people who insult The Beach Boys by hearing something Ron doesn't hear (and, for the record, something that Jon Stebbins doesn't hear, which Ron tastefully declined to point out).
Why don't you just tell Brian Wilson that he's a talentless jerk? Why don't you tell the Beach Boys that Carl and Dennis weren't all that great? Because that's what you're doing by insulting Ron.
Insult me, insult Jon, insult Brian, but do not insult Ron. He provides 100% certitude, which is a rare commodity on Beach Boys messageboards these days. I for one crave Ron's certitude, and I also crave those manly, manly hands of his that type out his glorious messages of certitude like Moses coming down from the mountain to type on a Beach Boys messageboard.
After all, that's why God made the Internet...
