Brian Wilson - London's A Lonely Town (that's one of my ear candies! Esp. I admire the song's ending with that vocalization)
That's not actually a Brian track -- it's Dave Edmunds, with (apparently), Bruce, Terry Melcher and Curt Boettcher on backing vocals. It's a cover of an old Tradewinds song, New York's A Lonely Town, with a couple of changes to the lyric.
the Trade Winds version is also more amazing - although I didn't know Brian wasn't involved, cheers Andrew!

'Wings' by The Hollies. Interesting to learn that they wrote it after The
Buffalo Springfield "forced" them to listen to their new song 'Expecting
To Fly'. Combine that feel with some nicely melodic Hendrix-inspired guitar
flourishes, a melody as strong as anything on 'The Who Sell Out' and
then mix in those flawless Hollies harmonies. The group never topped it.

The Hollies - So Lonely... These guys were so underrated.
Luke Kelly - The Lags Song... The dude from the Dubliners, what a voice.

Paul McCartney's Good Times Coming-Feel The Sun (Press To Play) - it's very catchy and so good, specially 2nd song!
I thought I was alone! Such a great song, I actually think Paul were a little depressed when he wrote that song. To forget his problems he wrote this mantra,"Good times coming, laughing at the good times coming in". Thats how I Imagine it anyway.

At the moment:
Be My Baby by The Ronettes
Found myself listening to the song on repeat over and over
Island in the Sun by The Righteous Brothers
Close your eyes and listen to it with headphones. You'll be in paradise!
I Wish I Never Saw the Sunshine by The Ronettes
Ronnie shines on this song. The part that got to me was "I wouldn't mind the rain"
Go Ahead and Cry by The Righteous Brothers
Normally I don't like choirs in songs but it fits in well with this one. Beautiful arrangement and vocals.
Flesh and Blood by Wilson Phillips
A desperate plea by Wendy and Carnie to reestablish contact with Brian during the Landy period. So glad they have come a long way since then.
Devoted to You by The Everly Brothers
A simple love song with a lot of meaning an great vocals.

I think it's fading a bit now but for the past 2 weeks it's been Joy Division all day every day. If I had to pick one song that most sums up the whole experience, it would have to be "Disorder." I've always liked the track, but the bass line always just seemed ... odd. And it is odd. It starts on an E, takes a huge leap down to an A flat, then a HUGE leap down to a B (why didn't Hook just choose to play a B within the same octave, just one and a half steps up from the A flat?!? Insanity!), and then back to the same A flat. So I guess the whole thing is based on an E major chord. But it's just weird. But this past week it clicked with me, and all of a sudden it WORKED - it became weird genius.

I'm also guilty of putting that one on repeat constantly. Brian wasn't crazy: just in tune to one of the greatest songs recorded.

Voodoo Dreams - Les Baxter
Rhapsody in Blue - Gershwin
My Favorite Things - John Coltrane

Song I've been obsessing over for the past year:
Grand Funk Railroad - Bad Time
Something about it. I can listen to it over and over and over again. Pick out all the instruments, sing along with all the different parts. Try to make up a new harmony. Try to figure out the guitar solo. I just love it.

A lot of Monkees stuff right now. The one I'm grooving on the most is "You Told Me" but I'm listening to all the stuff from that era.

I just have weird obsessions with some songs songs
A Song for My Father - Captain & Tennille
Nice instrumental. All I can say about it.
Brian's Back
My mind is weird like that. Not sure why I've been listening to it on repeat lately.
Summer's Gone
Fits my mood. Song's self explanatory. Summer's gone, it's finally sinking in...
Down in the Willow Garden - The Everly Brothers
A song about murdering a girl-how happy!
Not sure why I'm obsessed with this on. Maybe I'm just morbid...
Yeah, I'm weird...
I'll come back next week with a new set of obsessions.
