I think it would be cool to have a a two disc dvd called "50 years 50 videos" which would be 50 videos from the beginning up until now,in chronological order, similar to the "lennon legend" or "the mccartney years" dvds, the videos would not only be music videos and promos but tv appearances , concert footage etc...maybe with commentary from the members..what do you think?
I have been hoping for this for a long time! Not just 2-discs for mass consumption, but also offer up something like the Neil Young video collections where the more die-hard fans can spend more money and get as much video as Neil himself could find and include in a super-deluxe set.
If I've read between the lines enough over the years, the problems in doing this in a complete way are rights and royalty (and residuals) issues with people like Andy Williams and Merv Griffin who had the Boys on their TV shows, and also the willingness of family and band members to release some more intimate or home-movie style footage to be seen, if it even exists. And also the veto power over some of the less-than-flattering concert material that some members probably wouldn't want released officially. Then you'll have the faction within the band who might want to "remaster" some of the live stuff and if possible "fix" some of the bad notes...etc. Who knows.
I'd definitely buy a video set, mostly for the upgrade in quality over the booted videos and YouTube stuff.
