DAMN BRIAN'S VOICE SOUNDS GOOD ON THAT SURF'S UP. Amazing, even.

I wonder if hell's ever gonna freeze over and we'll get to see and hear the uncut version.

Thanks for posting the link.  Leonard Bernstein singing all those songs like "Pretty Ballerina" and taking them apart is entertaining.  It's also a great time capsule from 1966/67.

Yerp. Always wished this take would be released in full, as it may very well be better than the two released demos.

I'll bet my shirt that the version you hear on the special is a conglomerate version of several takes edited together to form the multi-angle scene. Such documentary style camera teams usually consisted of only a single camera, and it would be repositioned to get different views. Brian may have run through the song between 2 and 5 times. If you listen very carefully to the track on the American Band special, you can hear possible edit points in the track. To get an idea of this, if you have the 2-DVD set of "The Kids Are Alright" they discuss in the restoration piece how they went to the various takes to get the best sounding master.

Yes, it was filmed with one camera and cut together from different takes.
Mrs. Jaffe did a great job with the cutting, I once contacted her, but if you look very closely, you can see how Brian's sitting position changes through cuts.
The outtakes-transcripts confirm that as well.
