For some reason I didn't see this until now. There's an American Masters film about Patsy Cline coming up!
The new documentary Patsy Cline: American Masters premieres nationwide beginning March 4 on PBS (check local listings) during Women’s History Month as part of the 31st season of THIRTEEN’s American Masters series. 2017 marks the 85th anniversary of Cline’s birth.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Speaking of George Jones, who is one of my favorite singers, this earlier record of his "Just One More" is pretty much essential country in my opinion. One of the best country records you'll ever hear, and that voice is incredible...

Yeah, isn't it?
To borrow a quote of Carl Wilson talking about Elvis, "That voice was a miracle". And he kept his voice for so long. It only got shot shortly before he died. But even in the 90s, after all his alcohol and drug excesses, it was in top shape.

Oh yes, that's a great performance. Paycheck played bass in the Jones Boys for some time. After he got famous, George and he recorded an album together, covering a.o. some fine Chuck Berry:

Speaking of George, I came across this clip a couple of days ago. Never saw it before. Just him and his guitar & voice:
George Jones- "Take Me" from "A Poem is a Naked Person"

What it must've been to sit in in such a situation with George and listen to this in person

Now, this oughta be something!
Finally, after more than 25 years of research, I am ready to publish my book about KWKH and the Louisiana Hayride. I am excited to be using the crowdfunding company Publishizer to help me connect with potential publishers, and have created a page on their site that summarizes my book and objectives. I hope you will check it out by following the link in this post. I am offering a signed, pre-release edition of this amazing large format coffee table book for a pledge of just $...20 (it will retail for much more than that) and will toss in other bonuses for larger contributions. Trying to get to 500 advance orders in the next 30 days. Next year, award winning documentary film maker Ken Burns is releasing a complete series, The History of Country Music, so now appears to be the perfect time to launch this campaign. I would love to have you be among the first to reserve this volume and your support will help me get all those Hayride stats and images out of my files (and head!) and into book form where all can enjoy. Sample photos and stories are posted on the campaign site. Please help out if you can...and thank you for believing in me as a writer. To purchase, follow this link:
https://publishizer.com/cradle-of-the-stars/
If you have any issues when paying from a mobile device, try refreshing the browser or make your order from a home computer.

Roger Miller was one of the cleverest and funniest guys in the business. His hits of course are great, but he did many other great tracks.
Pretty underrated i think.

Someone asked in this thread about Willie's "Still not dead" and if it's still online somewhere to listen to (unfortunately I can't find the message nor remember who it was that asked). Well, it's on his new album and here's the music video:

Nice one!
I remember Linda talking about Brian's work in the IJWMFTT documentary and how he came up with the vocal arrangement while playing boogie woogie on the piano in a different key iirc
BTW I forgot to mention that Loretta Lynn had a stroke and is in the hospital (maybe there are already new informations out)

Hey yeah, arrived Monday, sounds amazing. Willie's stuff is just as good as he has
ever done in the past, if not more pleasant to these ears. I love how 'trigger' shines through as strong as ever.
He sure as hell still has it, and his voice is still great. Love all of the recent albums he has put out over
the last 5 - 10 years. A true master.
