Why has he got a severed head perched on the end of his piano?

Whose head? My first thought was Stamos, not so sure now.

There's the white piano again. I remember in the 1970's, on tour, the white piano and the white suit.

Al somehow has much more hair now than he did in 1978!

Love the lamp in the background. Have one myself with white shade, but always wanted it metallic like here. I guess this is the piano where Al wrote 15 new songs for the new album.

Where in Malibu?
*singing* Somewhere near Malibu....I don't think this is Al's piano. He lives in Big Sur and why should they ship his piano to Malibu just for a picture occasion ? Does anyone of the boys live in Malibu or at what place was this taken ? Al's facebook site mentioned that they will be more pictures soon.

Where in Malibu?
*singing* Somewhere near Malibu....I had the same brainstorm. But only "Somewhere in Malibu" came to mind. Then I googled it and it was "Somewhere in Japan". Couldn't remember the "Malibu"-song, but now, thank you! Brian has or had a house in Malibu. Billy Hinsche used to live there, but not anymore.

Same shirt? Same day? The setting for Al's photo looks like a corporate apartment or hotel room. Wonder if the piano was brought in as a prop?

You can see Al is in a building, maybe a hotel, on the beach side of Pacific Coast Highway, which is in the background.

The Yamaha white piano in the photo is different and newer than the white one the Beach Boys use to tour with. Al has that touring piano at Red Barn Studio.

Maybe Al's getting a fee for promoting whatever is written on the hat. 'Malibu Retirement Retreat' perhaps?

Maybe Al's getting a fee for promoting whatever is written on the hat. 'Malibu Retirement Retreat' perhaps? Like the Lovester did in the 80s with Radio Shack, Chevrolet, Hawaiian Tropic, Surftronics ( -I think that's what the hat he wore at the Knebworth show said), etc.
