Bruno Kirby from Almost Summer, passes away

The actor, Bruno Kirby, passed away at age 57, from complications related to leukemia. Bruno is part of Beach Boys trivia, having starred in the 1978 movie, Almost Summer.
I enjoyed the single "Almost Summer"; it was a minor hit. And Mike Love & Celebration (with Brian Wilson!) performed/lipsynched the song on American Bandstand. To me, as a relatively new Beach Boys fan, I was excited to see Brian on TV, wearing a bright Adidas warm-up suit, with a bass guitar strapped on. However, much like the "Summer Of Love" video, Brian appeared to not know the parts he should've been lipsynching too.
I also got some mileage out of the Almost Summer soundtrack album. It filled the long void between the spring 1977 release of Love You, and the fall 1978 release of MIU. Back in those days, that was long time!

I dug Bruno.
My favorite BK role aside from Godfather & Tap would be
Albert Brook's
Modern Romance
. He was Perfect as
an assistant film editor who gives Albert some quaaludes
to get him over a heartbreak. Find that film if you can....also
you'll see Albert go into a shoe store on Melrose to buy new
jogging equipment for his "new" life without a girlfriend.
If I'm not mistaken, the location of the shoe store is, or
was next to Brian's old Radiant Radish health food store.
I had just seen Bruno at an Indian restaurant only
four months ago...whatta bummer...he'll be missed.
