I'd also add "Go and Get That Girl" to that list.
Was this only recorded as a Christmas song by the song by the BBs? It's a nice pop song on the Celebration album but as it was written by Ron Altbach rather than the group it wouldn't bother me if it wasn't included.
If they completed the recording of Sad, Sad, Christmas then that might be interesting but possibly it was omitted from the expanded Christmas CD for a reason.

So Ponghit, good fellow, can you say is the MIC project more a "career retrospective" or rather a "deep cuts anthology w/ some hits".
Maybe both? It's safe to assume the big hits will be represented, no? And there will be a 'bonus' disc, comparable to the 1993 box that MIC is apparently destined to 'replace.'

Might have been this one, I wasn't paying close attention to it — tended to spend more brain-power on 1960s/70s material. Gotta say: I'm surprised you guys seem so interested in a lackluster '80s track instead of a FRIENDS outtake.

The 1980s outtakes can be ignored for the box. The released stuff was already bad enough.

Not at all. It will be great to have a Friends outtake.
It's just easier to do a Sherlock job on the movie themes as there are so few of them.

Mark London posted a link to "It's a Beautiful Day" on his FB page within the last day or two. I'd wager that's the track being discussed.

Except Stevie! I feel like this would be a perfect place to get it released (and maybe the last?), deserves to be heard in master-tape quality, has a pretty good Brian lead, catchy melody that BB fans could identify with....,

Damn, I forgot about that one. I want that one on the box set!
I wonder how much of oh lord was finished for the 1985 album.

If so then presumably disc 5 would stretch from this song through to TWGMTR (with disc 6 being the aforementioned 'bonus' disc). If that's the case, then probably half of the songs on this disc would have to be unreleased (or live recordings) as there can't be more than 12-14 singles or album tracks from this era that merit being included on the box set. Sounds promising.

Wasn't there a version of "Go and Get That Girl" floating around that was stripped down (no horns) and had Carl singing lead? Almost like a demo? Maybe for MIU? I know I had it on a bootleg cassette I picked up at a record convention back in the 90's. Maybe it was just an outfake? Anyone else know about this?

The version with Carl on lead I have does have the horns. It sounds like a scratch vocal though, rather than a proper vocal take.

Hmm, a
Friends
outtake? Sounds interesting. How about anything Brian related from
Sunflower
through 1974? That's what I'm hoping for. Any goodies you know of?

Bonghit, what's the story with Back Home '63? They can't find a better copy than what's been booted or they can't fix the existing one to be presentable enough for release?
Or even the unfinished Back Home '70 session would be neat to have released.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

I was about to say exactly this. I have a hard time comprehending how much interest there is in the '80s era around here. I mean, really? I guess these things come and go in waves and things fall in and out of vogue, the pendulum swings back and forth, but gosh, i can't even sit through the entirety of any of the songs mentioned in the last page of this thread.

I love "Go and Get That Girl" and "Where We Are" ... and "Stevie" is a stone-cold classic. If they find anything from Brian and/or Dennis from 81-83, that would be great to include, even if the quality isn't great ... it's history, and a strange, under-documented period for the group.

If this were all they had then I wouldn't really see the point of including it on the box set as it is essentially Carl singing somebody else's song and not singing it terribly well.

It's A Beautiful Day is pretty damn good. However, It's A
New
Day is friggin' brilliant!! An absolutely cracking Dennis song, and a tremendous Blondie lead. Definately worthy of an official release.

Each to their own like, but I'm kind of bemused why they kept returning to this song...it's just 'meh'. Bottom of the '15 big ones' pile for me, and would have sucked SOOO badly on Sunflower.

Is the Friends outtake a different version of a track already released, or a new track altogether? Based on a previous post you'd made, I'd assumed the Friends outtake is My Little Red Book.
