Just thought it might be fun to try and guess what songs will be performed on the tour. Here's my attempt.
I'm assuming fifty songs - since they've talked about it not just being a hit show, and doing justice to all sides of the band's career, that seemed a reasonable number (Brian's band have done 40+ song sets, and Mike & Bruce's 50+ songs, on special tours before), given that it's a round number and the anniversary.

I looked at sets for long shows the bands have done before - Mike, Bruce and David's UK tour in 2008 and Brian's UK tours of 2002 - as a rough guide.

First, I assumed that any song on both band's setlists would be included, because everyone involved would know them. That gives 24 songs:
 Do It Again
 Surfin' USA
 California Girls
 Dance Dance Dance
 Good Vibrations
 Sail On Sailor
 Don't Worry Baby
 In My Room
 Good Timin'
 Forever
 You're So Good To Me
 Darlin'
 Kiss Me Baby
 'Til I Die
 Wouldn't It Be Nice
 You Still Believe In Me
 Sloop John B
 God Only Knows
 Here Today
 Surfer Girl
 Help Me Rhonda
 I Get Around
 Barbara Ann
 Fun Fun Fun

To that we can almost certainly add Heroes & Villains, because Mike & Bruce's band have been performing that one recently, to make 25, or half the set.

There are a further eleven songs that Mike, Bruce and David did but Brian didn't, which would have to be played at a Beach Boys show, realistically:

 Surfin' Safari
When I Grow Up (To Be A Man)
 The Warmth Of The Sun
 Little Deuce Coupe
 Shut Down
 Little Honda
 Then I Kissed Her
 I Can Hear Music
 Kokomo
 Cottonfields
 Do You Wanna Dance

Then there are six 'rarities' that Mike, Bruce & David did that I strongly suspect would make the list:

Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring (I can easily imagine the five of them plus Foskett doing this around one mic)
Everyone's In Love With You (one of Mike's few solo writing credits)
All This Is That (co-written by Mike and Al, plus it's a great song)
Disney Girls (gives Bruce the spotlight)
Still Cruisin' (Maybe this one would be swapped for Getcha Back, but I suspect the theme of this one would be more appropriate)
 Wendy - (another Bruce lead)

I could easily imagine there being a mini Smile set, given the Smile Sessions release with some of the Smile stuff that Brian had in his 2002 sets:
Our Prayer
Wonderful (Mike apparently likes this one too)
Surf's Up (maybe)

I'd guess also Vegetables, because Al can sing that one.

Brian's done Marcella at pretty much every show ever, so that one will almost certainly be in.

And finally, we can probably add in a couple of songs written by Al:
California
Lady Lynda/Little Lady

Which would nicely bring us to the required fifty songs. I don't think that'll be the exact set (for a start I think they'll do at least two or three songs from the new album), but I bet I'm close. Thoughts?

In a recent interview, touring "to support the new album" was mentioned, so there will be some new ones as well.

Brian has played some of them live in the past 10-15 years: WIGU(TBAM), TWOFTS, LDC, SD, TIKH, DYWD - maybe even Little Honda?

Apart from that: cool set list in the realm of possibility.  Smiley

I'd love to see more unknown songs, though... Al Jardine alluded to a 'balanced' set list in a recent interview  - that gives me hope.

If they don't play "Don't Fight The Sea" I would be surprised, Al has been playing it live during the last year or so, it has all the group on it as close as they still sound (with the exception of Brian maybe, could he still hit that note if he had too?)

I'm preparing for a greatest hits set without a whole lot of surprises, and I would be fine with that.

It would be really great if they'd throw in a handful of lesser known late 60s/early 70s album tracks, though.

Airplane -- No one has played it since the 70s. Highly unlikely.

It's Okay -- Somewhat possible! Mike's band has played it, I believe, although Brian's has not. Also, the R&R Music cover could be a possibility. It was a big hit.

Had To Phone Ya -- I don't know if this has ever been played live. Certainly not since the 70s. Not gonna happen.

The Night Was So Young -- More possible than many Love You tracks. Brian's band played it many years ago. Unfortunately, Love You is not a well-regarded album by BW's inner circle. I would also argue that Honkin' is a possibility, given that Al and Brian duetted on it on Al's album last year.

I'd love to see a setlist like that, although it's shorter than I'd hope for, but realistically it's not going to happen. There's no way they'd do a 35-song set with a 17-song run of album tracks and flop singles, or a set with only I Get Around and Fun Fun Fun as car songs and Surfin USA and Surfer Girl the only surf ones. Three-quarters of the audience would walk out.

ha, you're right ... it was really 1/2 wishful thinking ...

although i wouldn't be surprised if they do a 60/40 hits/deeper cuts.  not sure what the deeper cuts would be, although I'd love to hear "Break Away", one I forgot to list.

I'm not sure I see the point of "Little Deuce Coupe", "Shut Down", "409" ... I mean, they are going to have to leave out some hits unless they do ALL hits.  I get the feeling that whoever is in charge of this thing is going to play up the "Beach Boys are an important, viable group" angle, which means toning down the "Be True to Your School" shenanigans, etc.

Here is I reasonably think we could end up with (including a few I hope they include):

-California Girls (Mike)
-I Get Around (Mike)
-Do It Again (Mike with Brian)
-Then I Kissed Her (Al)
-Please Let Me Wonder (Brian: still sounds good for modern day voice, a "treat" for album cut fans)
-All Summer Long (Mike)
-Little Deuce Coupe (Mike)
-Shut Down (Mike)
-409 (Mike)
-This Whole World (Brian: another album cut treat)
-Wouldn't It Be Nice (Brian/Al/Jeff)
-God Only Knows (Brian/Bruce)
-Sloop John B (Brian, Mike)
-Forever (Brian, obvious choice for Dennis)
-Sail on Sailor (Blondie)
-Surfer Girl (Brian)
-Good Timin' (Brian, I say they choose this as they probably wanna cover something late 70s)
-Kokomo (Mike with Al or Brian)
-Our Prayer (Group)
-Heroes And Villains (Brian)
-Surfin U.S.A. (Mike)

I am interested to hear what Brian will add to the mix on Kokomo. I know he was on the Spanish version, but still would like to hear him on it. I know it's not a fan favorite usually, but it is the first #1 hit of their's that didn't have him on vox.

Alas, I suspect they're going to play it very safe indeed, but i'd be nice if they mixed it up a bit. Surely the enormous success of Smile has demonstrated that there's a huge audience for their more experimental work, particuarly in the UK. A really decent tribute to Carl and Dennis would be nice too.

well, he could when he recorded "the like in I love you", for which he had to hit higher notes. It's not a matter if Brian can hit the note at all, or sing well.. he can do both no problem in the studio. The problem is if he can pull it off live, given that -in concert- his singing is usually not good.

I Get Around
Help Me Rhonda

Kiss Me Baby
Please Let Me Wonder
Don't Worry Baby
California Girls

The Little Girl I Once Knew
Caroline, No
Forever
Good Timin'
Cool, Cool Water
Good Vibrations
Do It Again

Encore 1:
Surfin' USA
Fun, Fun, Fun
Barbara Ann

Encore 2 (Brian solo):
Love and Mercy

And I'm sure they'll throw in some new songs but this is a basic wishlist of what I want to hear them do.  Maybe as a tribute to Carl, they can throw in Heaven with Brian on lead (I actually like Brian's version better than Carl's) and then do Forever as a tribute to Dennis.  I like Forever with Brian on lead but I've heard David Marks does a good rendition though I've never actully heard it.

I hope the concert programme is both 'party' and both 'essential listening'.
I hope they play something from SMiLE (part 2: Wonderful-Song For Children-Child Is The Father Of The Man-Surf's Up) and a few songs they just recorded this year. I gues the rest will be the obvious hits. There will always be complaints because they have way too much to choose from.

You're right, but this is why I think we'll get a *long* set - because there are about thirty songs that they realistically won't leave out, but on a tour like this we will still be getting more interesting songs. Whenever they've done things like that (box set tour, 2004 and 2008 UK tours) they've always done very long sets and still done all the hits, rather than drop hits for obscurities.

Here is what I think would be a pretty great set-list. They're not all neccesarily my favourite BB songs, but I think it's a set which includes healthy nods to each of the individual BB's and encompasses every stage of their career. What do you think?

Enter backing band, with Mike. Mike then intorduces Bruce, then Al, then - of course - Brian

1. California Girls
2. I Get Around
3. The Little Girl I Once Knew
4. Darlin'

David Marks introduced to stage

5. Surfin'/Surfin Safari
6. In My Room
7. Please Let Me Wonder
8. Wouldnt It Be Nice
9. Sloop John B
10. Help Me Rhonda
11. Our Prayer
12. Heroes & Villains (SMiLE version)
13. Do It Again
14. I Can Hear Music

Tribute to Carl

15. God Only Knows
16. Long Promised Road
17. Disney Girls

Blondie and Ricky introduced to stage

18. Sail On Sailor
19. Marcella
20. California

Tribute to Dennis

21. River Song
22. Forever

Exit Blondie and Ricky

23. It's OK
24. Good Timin'
25. Kokomo

Encore 1:

1. Surfer Girl
2. Dont Worry Baby
3. Their Hearts Were Full of Spring
4. Good Vibrations
5. Surf's Up

Encore 2:

1. Fun Fun Fun
2. Surfin'USA
3. Little Deuce Coupe
