If I were doing this for my girlfriend I would put songs with messages to her..love songs etc and tell her to pay attention to the lyrics because they are dedicated to her..Chicks dig that sort of thing..

Disney Girls
Feel Flows
Roller Skating Child
Busy Doin Nothin
Cabinessence

Off the top of my head. Depends on her taste, though. They've got so much diverse music. You may want to start her off on a certain era that she would like the most and pick songs from that.

These are some good romantic ones not particularly well- known:
Good To My Baby
Kiss Me Baby
That's Not Me
Don't Talk Put Your Head On My Shoulder

Go for some early, well known surfing stuff and hits and then bring it slowly into the Pet Sounds/SMiLE era and go from there.

Or just a few hours of Shortnin' Bread on loop.

Put on the songs that mean a lot to you.

I miss the days of mix tapes. They were so much more personal, insomuch as you were actually handing something to someone that you had spent time and thought over. Also, the nature of tapes meant you had to sit there and listen to each song as you recorded it, making for a much more unique and thoughtful experience.

My advice, buy her a cassette walkman.

Baby Blue
God Only Knows
Be With Me
Our Sweet Love
Wonderful (TSS Version)
Cuddle Up
Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)
Only With You
Tears In The Morning
etc.

Ballads that I turned the wife onto early on. If you want to play your girlfriend something that "jams" a bit more, try the 1973 In Concert album. Or go with the 2 disc Legacy Dennis Wilson POB set.

Or as a joke, play her the Looking Back With Love album.

Heroes And Villains (Stereo)
Good Vibrations (Stereo, find some good fan mix)
All I Wanna Do
Had To Phone Ya (seriously, this song is very easy to like)
We're Together Again (Stereo - some nice stereo boots out there!)

My girlfriend bought Pet Sounds and 20 Golden Greats last week, and I didn't even tell her to. She was just curious about my favorite band. Smiley

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

the whole love you album except for "the night was so young"
so tough album except "all this is that"
holland
surf's up except for "til i die" & "surf's up"
15 big ones except for "just once in my life"
m.i.u album
keeping the summer alive
i can't show her smiley smile she'd freak out....even though their are some of my favorite after the smile era i can't really show her much of that because i know she wouldn't like any of it and it'll probably make her not wanna hear anything else by the beach boys again

The entirety of Holland is beautiful. ESPECIALLY Funky Pretty - it's like a trip through the universe.
