The outdoor shows are the BEST because everyone stands the whole show and you dont have to deal with the Brian Wilson type jerk fans (not all of them obviously but you can point them out) or the miserable older people. Im a very fun positive person just looking to have an amazing time. I dont know why negative grumpy people even go to these shows.
Well, fewer of us will go now that we know you're attending.

This was discussed a bit in an old thread earlier in the tour. I think the way people ask is a big part of it. If you're standing and blocking people, but you're not otherwise being rude or belligerent or drunk, etc., and the person behinds you screams and swears at you, that's not right.
But as I said, if someone behind you politely asks if you could please sit down, and you get mad at them or tell them no, then you're kinda being a d**k, at least if nobody in front of you is standing.
The psychology and behavior aspect is kind of funny. All it takes is the people in the front row to stand, and then everybody else has to stand whether they want to or not in order to see. I usually see this happen at concerts. If I'm standing only because the person in front of me is standing, and someone behind me asks me to sit down, I'd probably just point to the people in front of me and say that I'm only standing because I have to.
If there is just a random strip of people standing and everybody in front and behind them are sitting, then it's easier for those people to sit if asked. In other words, you standing and blocking someone else's view while they sit is hindering their experience way more than you not being able to stand hinders your experience.
And yes, it seems like most people don't take into account possible physical issues people may have. Sure, some people just want to sit because they want to sit. But many literally have to sit, or need to sit to avoid immense pain. For that matter, I wouldn't immediately say anything to someone standing either. Sometimes back problems mean people have to get up and stand and move a bit as well. However, I think the majority of people standing for most or all of a show probably don't have this issue.

I sat throughout the greater part of Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin. At Massey Hall. Stoically still. Because I wanted to soak it all in and not leap about like a jackazz teenager. You sound like a real piece of ah, work.
Here's the drill Excitable Boy in Paradise - crowds have their own gestalt. They rise, they fall, they respond to the nuance of the performance.
I'm not sitting to watch Bad Religion
, but I'm sure gonna sit and admire the beauty of Please Let Me Wonder. And yes, when it's time to rawk - we will get up. And rawk. Very simple.
Doo Dah, I'm assuming you are a Bad Religion fan?

I prefer to sit, but sometimes feel compelled to stand when Bruce Johnston comes out from behind his keyboard and pleads with me to. Almost like the Devil made me do it kinda thing...
lol.
I stand at concerts. I do not like sitting because it feels too passive.... like I'm watching a movie. It ruins the whole experience for me. I'm also usually too excited to sit.
I stood in the front row at two different BB concerts this summer (often as the only person standing) and not once did anyone request that I sit. If they would have, I would have moved somewhere out of the way and stood there.

No, but he's a Bad Beach Boys fan.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

I stand when those in front of me stand.
When they sit down, I sit down.
It's all the same. My eyes and ears are not dependent on standing up, or sitting down.
This issue is never going to be resolved. It's been going on for decades.
The first Beach Boys show I went to, everyone stood because there were no chairs to sit on.
