Board preservation, backup and the like

Since the hacking scare late last year I've been wondering: does anyone on the staff regularly back up the database(s) for this board?

Given the transient nature of most message boards, it's not an impossible thing for the site to just go belly up one day -- and given the information here, that'd be a darned shame -- but my understanding of the software is that it wouldn't be hard to preserve that raw info so long as you have the right administrative cred.
