I brought this up in Canterbury's thread, but I wanted to devote a thread to it...

How did the H&V Intro become the Fire Intro?  Do we have a primary source stating it was moved from H&V to Fire?  Or was there a misappropriation somewhere along the line that had been taken as fact, all the way to Darian's BWPS and thus now on to TSS?  Or did Linnett just think it sounded better as the intro to Fire instead of H&V when he began working on the project in the late 80s?

pretty sure that's the case.

I think it might be a bit unlogical that Brian Wilson would record an intro to a song 3 months after the actual song was recorded (and not worked on during that time). So I think it was connected with Fire later on.

If you listen to the sessions of the intro (definitely in the boots, don't remember if it made the box) , you can hear Brian playing the first chord of H&V after the final take of the piano track.

According to Bicyclerider (Reply #16 in the link below) it was David Leaf who started this myth.

We've always heard it was Leaf's idea. The H&V "intro" was for H&V Part/Side II, so still not Fire or even H&V.

I think unlogical is a very illogical word.
Seriously though, the piece does sound much better with Fire than H&V. Glad the powers that be accepted Leaf/Linett's idea.
