Here is a link to d/l my mix. Don’t expect anything even remotely radical, that’s not what this is at all. It’s as straightforward as can be. Limitations aside (such as not having access to the master tapes), this is as close to what i think the official release should have sounded like, that is, if it had to be modeled after BWPS. So, the track sequence and song structures have not been touched. All i've done is: fixed the bad edits, restored the hard edits (where possible), restored greater dynamic range (where possible), eliminated all pitch-shifted vocals, removed clicks and weird hiss anomalies (thank you theCOD), used bruiteur’s Barnyard, and changed some of the transitions between some tracks. Oh yeah, i also properly indexed the tracks, so that when you skip to a track, they all start exactly where they’re supposed to. Sheesh, even THAT needed fixing.  3D

So similar to the one I'm working on that I may as well not even finish it.

Piss off >: (

...

(Naw, thanks!)

Edit: Well hay, similar in spots, not similar in others. +1. imo.

This looks great ... but given your obvious attention to detail, I'm kinda surprised this would be in lossy format.  Actually I'm very surprised.  Seems like it defeats the purpose.

I, too, would welcome this in FLAC. Smiley

Oh, i, of course, did the whole thing in lossless, but uploaded it in mp3 because...actually, now that i'm thinking about it, i'm not sure why. Good point. I'll put it up as Apple Lossless.

I don't know how to do FLAC and i never bothered with it becuz i am kewl and have a kewl Mac, d00d.

In seriousness though, i don't get the frustration with Apple Lossless: it's accessible to both platforms via itunes, whereas FLAC is not. Is there something i'm missing, something else people don't like about it? I know it's foolish to default to itunes as the standard, but i've used other players and, well, they're kind of shitty. What's a good player that's an alternative to itunes?

Well, some of us in the stone age still like to burn to CD (and are on PCs of course)....lol. In that regard, FLAC decodes quickly to WAV for burning in an app like Foobar. I think Foobar *might* have an add-on for Apple Lossless, but I haven't tried it yet.

In light of no FLAC, any way of at least uploading it as individual WAV files (i.e. using something on your Mac that could convert to WAV?). Smiley

Foobar handles Apple Lossless, and all audio formats that have ever existed (with appropriate plugin).  Even HDCD!  Now, why someone would choose to use a player that doesn't handle every format in existence is beyond me.

Because it's really awkward to use?

I've never found foobar awkward to use.  But if I was gonna go buy a hammer, I'd want one that worked with every nail, rather than one that only drives certain proprietary nail formats, but which has a fancy leather grip.

Edited the original post with a link to download the mix in Apple Lossless. By the way, itunes can convert Apple Lossless to WAV (as well as to MP3 and AIFF).

Thanks again for the lossless!

After some kludging around, cursing some now non-existent and outdated plug-ins, stubbornly refusing to add iTunes, and finally updating core software, I was able to get the ol' Apple decoded to WAV. So, all's well that ends well. Smiley

Hopefully, I'll actually get some time to listen to it in the next few days...lol.

I like Winamp myself. Plays most formats. Only problem is that it uses up so much goshdarn memory.

Thank you very much, great mix! I've converted it into WAV with freeware called "Format Factory", very easy to install and use.

The only thing that I found not really conservative about your mix - it has SBEs LOL: otherwise, everything is splendid, just like it could be expected from your original post about the deficiencies of CD1.

Also, CIFOTM is lossy from 1.40 to 2.00 (roughly). What source did you use? I could upload the source track in lossless if it's from SOTs, Archaeology, Vigotone SMiLE or something like that.
