Aarghhh... at a newsomboard, someone suggested this as wishful thinking some time ago.. totally amazing. He will arrange it!
It's perfect. It will be an amazing album. It's like Brian and Van, but with different roles production wise.

Btw, the album will consist of 5 song under the duration of 1 hour. I guess there won't be any singles from this.. =P

Ahh well..  Grin

She is a soloartist, write songs and performes. What sticks out with her is that she plays mainly harp (she always plays a big harp live), and has a special voice that you either love or hate to listen to - thin and childlike. But the most important factor is that she has an amazing sensibility for good, avantgarde and quirky popmelodies, which sometimes is dimished because of her voice that may turn people off.

Personally I regard her in the same league as Brian and Syd Barrett.

Listen to some clips.. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001KL526/sr=8-1/qid=1142908452/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-1284923-7962360?%5Fencoding=UTF8

The first album consisted of many short songs, which also spurred a single, but during a year she has premiered some new songs, live,  in different incarnations, and most have evolved into longer suites.

Since the first album used only harp as instrumentation, it will be interesting to see how these "suites" will evolve with the help of van dyke parks. I can't think of any aranger that will be more perfect for the job. It's a dream situation.... yummy...

I saw Newsom a year ago on a festival
and I was blown away
weird voice and songs
but straight from the heart
it was a shame I had to leave to catch an appointment

ive seen her live twice. once just playing in ameoba records, and again opening for neil young.  unfortunatley, although shes a great songwriter, her voice is unbearable to me.
